In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WALTON, Bruce - died very peacefully at home on April 5, 2023.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 2021 and daughter Linda in 2018. He leaves behind daughter Jennifer (Bruce) and sons Greg and Tim (Wendy) as well as 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Bruce was born in Saskatchewan and the eldest son in a family of 11. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Navy and spent most of his 23 year career as an X-ray Tech at Naden, Lahr and Kingston. He retired again after 15 years in Corrections.
Bruce was a very active and caring father and grandfather, spending many days on beach walks, feeding the ducks at Beacon Hill Park, or camping with the Cubs.
Bruce will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul that always saw the good in people.
In his retirement in Parksville, he spent countless hours walking the neighbourhood or the shoreline, always stopping to pick up litter along the way. He volunteered for many years at the SOS Thrift Shop. He tended the gardens at St Columba's Church, and was active in the men's group. He puttered in his garden daily and continued this habit around his apartment during the past four years in Langford. Active until the end, he could be seen on his daily walks around the building.
Thanks
to his care team over the years for their kindness and dedication in his
final years. Your understanding was always appreciated.
