He was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Doreen Annie Bertha Lahaie (Fleet); mother, Antoinette Lahaie (Marion); father, Paul Lahaie; and infant sister, Marie.

Leo, or Larry as he was known to some, dedicated the majority of his life (1965-1992) serving in the military, first as a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the Navy and secondly as a military police officer. His military career took him overseas and all over Canada where he made many lifelong friends along the way. After retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, he and his family moved to Truro, where he quickly took on a position with the Department of Justice as a Sheriff in the Truro area in 1994. He finally retired for good in 2015, so he could continue to enjoy the rest of his life relaxing at the trailer with his wife and make more memories with his family. Leo’s hobbies included hosting washer tournaments at the campground, fishing on the lake or spending many hours in the garage playing with all his tools, creating some beautiful woodworking projects. He also loved to bake and spend time in the kitchen.

We are deeply saddened by his death, Dad; you’ll be forever in our hearts.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023. If so desired, donations to Colchester Food Bank are welcomed. (Mattatall Varner Funeral Home)
