In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PIKE, Leonard Francis (Frank) - It’s with broken hearts we announce the passing of our father, Frank Pike on April 11, 2023. Formerly of Sydney, Cape Breton, he worked in the Steel Plant until 1954. With family in tow, Frank moved to the mainland to serve in the RCN. He proudly served on the HMCS Magnificent, Bonaventure, Margaree and Preserver to name a few. When ashore dad worked at the Shearwater Fire Hall as a crew chief. After retiring from the navy, he continued working as a civilian firefighter at the Dockyard Fire Hall.
Dad was active in the church for many years and enjoyed spending the summers with Mom at the cottage on The Points in Cape Breton. He had an excellent sense of humour and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and giving them a hard time.
Dad will be deeply missed and cherished by his children: Leonard (Lee) Pike, Wendy (Bill) Hire, Denise DeMarchi, Darlene (Brent) Elliott as well as his grandchildren; Ashley, Lenny, Gordie, Shauna, Mitchell, Sarah, Brian, Nick, Kalina and ten great grandchildren.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Carmyl in 2018 and son Larry in 1980.
Keeping with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
We would like to thank the staff of the VG on 5B and 3B for their compassion and caring support. You have made such a big difference in our time of need.
Thank you. (The Saltwire Network) 18 Apr 2023)
