BAULD, Henry Stanley Donald - Halifax, died July 4, 1996, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late D. Stanley and Lillian (Hawkins) Bauld. He was educated in Halifax at Tower Road School, the Halifax Academy and Dalhousie University. During the Second World War he served as a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy and had postings in Windsor, Ont., Victoria B.C., and Ottawa. He served on armed merchant ships out of Bermuda and on corvettes, escorting convoys across the Atlantic and was in direct action against the German Fleet in the English Chanel. After the war, he established a sporting goods business, Bauld Agencies Ltd. from where he retired. He was a prominent athlete exceeding in tennis, badminton, curling, basketball and English rugby. He was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 1980. He was also an avid trout and salmon fisherman as well as an ardent golfer. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Naugler; sons, Donald, Halifax; Brian, Dartmouth; stepdaughter, Sylvia Ferguson, Barrie, Ont.; stepson, Dr. Marshall Naugler, Halifax; brothers, Gordon, Douglas, Halifax; Bruce, St. John's, Nfld.; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday in Bethany United Church, Clinton Avenue, Halifax.
