Son of Albert Hugh LeVasseur and Carmen Marguerite LeVasseur. Omer received his formal education in Lac du Bonnet, MB. He worked alongside his father to learn the butcher trade. At 17 1/2 he joined the Navy. He married Madeline Pachet. Madeline, a Lac du Bonnet school teacher. They had 3 children. Omer retired from the Navy in 1976 and he and Medeline made their home in Ottawa, ON. Madeline died on 15 Jul 2005.
