In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
EGAN, Noel Vincent - died in Ottawa on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the age of 98. He was born on December 26th, 1924, in Liverpool, England, where his family had recently arrived from Ireland, en route to Canada. Parents Meredith and Eileen, brothers Raymond, Rory, Meredith, Desmond, Adrian, and sister Eileen, emigrated a few years later, first to a farm in Southern Ontario, and ultimately to Toronto. Noel grew up in Toronto, served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War, attended St. Michael's College, and married Marijoan Brazill in 1950. They lived in Toronto, Renfrew, Toledo, and Ottawa, with summers spent at Sea View, Prince Edward Island. Predeceased by his parents, siblings, and daughter Barbara, he is survived by Marijoan, children Micheline (late Tom Murtagh), Meredith (Lori Pineau), Wendy (Calvin Pritchard), Timothy (Patricia Armstrong), and Kathleen (Scott Veinotte), grandchildren Christopher Connolly, Brendan, Meredith, Siobhan (Tevin Haye), Ciaran, and Declan Egan; Matthew, Bronwyn (Aaron Harper), Megan (Ryan Lewis), Rory, Noel (Megan Hollingsworth) and Aodhan Pritchard; Mary Jane, Barbara, Charlotte, Elinor, and Brigid Egan; Conor, Liam, and Gavin Veinotte and great- grandchildren Olivia Connolly, Harlem Haye, Audrey, Nora and Henry Harper and Gavin, Noel and Maeve Lewis, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Whelan's Funeral Home, 515 Cooper Street (between Bay & Lyon) on Sunday, February 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Basilica (281 Nepean Street). We would like to thank the emergency and palliative staff at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital and the team at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Noel's stays.
