BYERS, Murray Edward - 89, of Middleton, NS passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Willis and Winnifred Byers. Murray was a veteran of the Second World War having served as a Gunner on the Corvettes. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 1 Middleton. Murray later retired as a Printer having worked with newspapers in Windsor, Middleton and Bridgetown and was employed with the Middleton Rink, working in both the old and new rink. He also enjoyed hockey and baseball. He is survived by his wife the former Pauline Thornhill, Middleton; daughter, Judy (Earl) Baxter, Oromocto, NB; sons, Richard (Sandra) Byers, Dartmouth; Gary (Karen) Byers, Harbourville; grandchildren, Troy, Kevin, Janice, Scott and nine great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister Luciene; twin brother Perry and brother Clyde. Cremation has taken place. A Legion Tribute conducted by Middleton Branch No. 1will be held 7:00PM Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the Middleton Legion. By request, family flowers only.
