In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
COLLINS, Wilbert Henry (Wob) - With the exception of four years serving his country in the North Atlantic and Canada's West Coast, Wob lived over 100 years in Belleville followed by two months near his family at Lakeridge Gardens, Ajax, where he passed away peacefully. Wob was predeceased by Keitha, his beloved wife of 74 years. He was also predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Sarah, his brother Herbert (WWII), sisters and brothers in law Kay (Ernie) Salter and Annis (Clayton) Webb. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Linda Jean (Ivan). His legacy will be carried on by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who fondly remember their Grandpa as an honest and kind man. Michelle Halsey - Sasha + Symone of Toronto, Monica Halsey- Shea + Blake of Toronto, Adam Halsey (Amanda) - William + Edward of Whitby. Wob will also be missed and remembered by his niece Pat (Gerry) Smith and family, nephew Jim (Vicky) Webb and family, Margaret Ann (nephew John, predeceased) Salter and family.
From a young age Wob sailed on his treasured Bay of Quinte, so it was only natural that when he volunteered to fight for his country at the age of eighteen, he joined the navy. Upon returning from war he followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle by working for the C.N.R. for over 30 years, as a fireman and ultimately an engineer. Wob joined the A.N.A.F. Belleville in 1941 where he served on the executive and became a life member. He was also an active member of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club, belonged to the Eureka Lodge of the Masonic Temple, and was a member of Christ Church. He was a fun loving, loyal friend to many. Wob was a proud Canadian, respected by all who knew him and often reminded us that he had lived a good life. The family would like to thank Dr. Robertson, Queens Family Health Team, the Staff at the Richmond Retirement Home, Lakeridge Gardens and friends for helping him continue that good life.
Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Homes - Belleville Chapel (80 Highland Ave. 613-968-5588). As per Wob's wishes he will be cremated and a graveside interment will be held at a future date. (Rushnell Funeral Homes)
