KOBES, John Robert LS, 3074, RCN, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Anthony Fred and Bessie Kobes, of Kitchener, Ontario; husband of Lillian Joyce Kobes, of Victoria, British Columbia.
LS Kobes died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel.
Leading Seaman John Robert Kobes, age 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Fred and Bessie Kobes, of 5185 Fairmont. Leading Seaman Kobes was born and educated in Vancouver, enlisted in 1937 and was a gunner on the ATHABASKAN. His wife Lillian Joyce Kobes, and two young children reside in Victoria, British Columbia.
