In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
LAPLANTE, Guy Edmond - Age 93 of Halifax, it is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Guy Laplante on October 7th, 2023, at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor, N.S. Born in St. Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, he was the son of the late Omer and Alexina Laplante. Guy spent his childhood in Quebec, before joining the Navy in 1951 at the age of 21, and after spending 35 years serving our Country in the Navy, he retired in 1986. He proceeded to work at the Halifax Dockyards and The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in his retirement. But he wasn’t finished there, he continued to work and enjoy going to yard sales and selling at the flea markets weekly right into his late 80’s. Guy enjoyed a night out dancing, taking trips to different countries, and emerging himself in the culture. Guy was known for playing a mean game of Crib and tinkering away at home projects. Guy met the love of his life Anna Della Harris early on in his Naval career and married in 1953. Guy and Anna were together for 42 years after she passed away in 1995.
