In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PRATT, Edward Arthur (Ted) - Dad, Gramps, Grandad and there were sure to be other names, passed away in his sleep at the age of 91. He is now with his beloved Beverly who predeceased him in 2008. He missed her dearly and spoke to her daily. Born in New Westminster B.C. to Arthur and Beatrice he grew up in the Vancouver area. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Atlantic from 1943 to 1946 when he was officially demobilized from HMCS Poundmaker. He remained associated with the Navy through the Naval Officer's Association. He returned to Vancouver and resumed his education at UBC and also resumed his courtship with the older woman he had met at Bowen Island. The courtship ended in their marriage in December 1949. After graduation from UBC in Forestry he entered the lumber business as we came to know it. During this period they moved to Prince George where Colin was born. Portland, Barbara; Poughkeepsie N.Y., Andrew; and finally settled in Vancouver (Point Grey) where Brian was born. He developed many lifelong friendships on both sides of this business. As a lifetime member of the Point Grey Golf Club he regularly attended Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Club where he commented that their number was dwindling. Now there is one less. He is predeceased by his sister Phyllis and survived by his children, their spouses Wendy, Brian, Julie and Siobhan, grandchildren Megan, Ben and Ian as well as Laura, Beth and Rand, and Brendan, Tristan, Caleigh and Devon, and Kira and Celia. In addition by his great grandchildren Maddalyn, Max and Bridget. He will be missed by his family and friends along with the wild birds who he fed and watered on a regular basis. A get together to celebrate his life will be held at a future date. Please contact Colin (403-852-5848) or Brian (604-873-4335). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Evans Lake Forest Conservation Society. #5- 169 East 12th Ave, Vancouver, BC, V5T 2G8. (The Vancouver Sun 22 Jan 2016)
