Submitted by Derrick Shillington: I knew Andre from when we were both attach posted as Able Seaman Naval Signalman to the Quebec Provincial Exhibition 1984. He seemed quiet by nature and competent in his skills. In 1985 I was sailing on HMCS ATHABASKAN when we were carrying out a search pattern looking for a lost sailor from HMCS MARGAREE. It was not until later that I had learnt that it was Andre Fortin. He was never found.
