In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MERCER, William John (Jack) - Born in Millbank, Ontario on June 17th, 1924, passed away in the presence of his family at Toronto Western Hospital on July 9th, 1983. Taken too young in his 59th year. Predeceased by his father, Brigadier William Mercer of the Salvation Army, and his brother-in-law George Sullivan. He leaves his wife Marie (Sullivan) and their children, Paul, Mark, and Darlene; his mother Lena Mercer (Ford); his sisters-in-law, Lillian, Florence; his brothers in law, Arthur, John; his many nieces and nephews.
Jack was a proud Canadian and was very glad to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy from April 1942 until October 1945. He was at sea a total of 731 days aboard the HMCS Sarnia, the HMCS Collingwood and the Royal Navy Ribble.
Jack
liked nothing more than to have a group of people visit at the family
cottage on Black Lake, Ontario. The more the merrier. If he was able to
catch a couple of small mouth bass that would have made for a perfect
weekend.
