WICKENS, Alfred Eric - 77, Woodlawn Dr., Amherst, formerly of Collingwood, Cumberland Co.; died July 18, 1996, in Highland View Reginald Hospital, Amherst. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Thomas and Gladys (Calvin) Wickens. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for 15 years, the Royal Canadian Army signal Core for 6 years and retired from Correction Canada following 12 years of service. He was a member of Royal Standard Lodge 395, Halifax; Botsford Chaper 7, Royal Arch Masons, New Brunswick; Tantarmar Council 8; Luxor Temple, Saint John, N.B.; Philae Temple, Halifax and Cumberland Shrine Club; Royal Canadian Legion 36, Oxford, and a member of Federal Superannuates, Nation Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Daisy Johnson; sons, Allan, Malcolm, Saint John, N.B.; Eric, Halifax; James, St. Catherine, Ont.; daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Ken Barton), Maereina (Mrs. Ernie Griffith), Saint John, N.B.; brothers, Arnold, Cornwall, Ont.; James, London, England; Joseph, British Columbia; sisters, Christina (Mrs. Bert Baston), Sudbury, Ont.; Eva (Mrs. Arnold Shaw), Portland, Maine; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Margaret Wilson; sister, Doreen Stevens. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, legion service 7 p.m. tonight, funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, all in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main St., Oxford. Burial in Wyvern Cemetery.
