MCLEAN, Daniel Haddow, AB, V14742, RCNVR, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Daniel Haddow McLean, and O. Emily McLean, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
AB McLean died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel during the Second World War.
Able Seaman Daniel Haddow McLean, 25, has been officially presumed dead after being reported missing following the sinking of H.M.C.S. Athabaskan last April 29, 1944 according to his mother, Mrs. Emily McLean, 878 Nanaimo. Daniel was born in Vancouver, he attended Hastings School and Templeton Junior High School and worked for North Van Ship Repairs Ltd. before enlisting in 1941. He has a brother, Monty, in the Navy, and a sister, Emily, at home.
