Ian Anderson Robertson of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was the son of James Singers and Wendela Robertson of Saskatoon (Wendela remarried as Mrs. Walter Dibb). Ian was born at Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, and was working as an office clerk at Saskatoon Cartage when he enlisted on April 06, 1942 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, HMCS UNICORN
AB Robertson died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 29 Apr 1944. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Plouescat Communal Cemetery, Finistere, France. The province of Saskatchewan honoured Able Seaman Robertson by naming Robertson Islands in his honour.
