Died: 05 Dec 2023, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia

 

TURNER, Kenneth Gordon, Rev. - age 90 years of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5th, 2023 at the Cobequid Community Health Centre.

 

Born on September 22, 1933; in Sault Ste. Marie, ON; he was a son of the late John "Jack" and Emily (Wyatt) Turner.

 

Ken was a career officer with the Royal Canadian Navy, and for the last 16 years he was ordained as a priest serving at St. Francis by the Lakes as Associate Priest Minister. He was a man of faith, character, kindness and love. Ken loved his family, church family, helping people but most of all had a soft spot in his heart for his three adored grandchildren; attending many sporting events and special days with them. He loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, exercising his mind and keeping up with current world events. Ken was a dedicated husband and would give the world to his wife Helen at any point in time, they had a very loving long relationship.

 

Left with many loving memories are his devoted wife of 63 years Helen; beloved daughters Sherri-Lee Turner, Shannon (Paul) Purcell and Shelley (Brent) Hamilton; cherished grandchildren Slit Purcell, Ian (Meagan) Purcell and Jacob Hamilton (Kennedy); sister Elane Turner; also by several nieces, nephews and extended friends, church family and special friend Rev. Marjorie Saulnier.

 

Predeceased by sisters Marguerite, Ann and Brenda; brothers John and Charles.

 

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 7-9pm in the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 2pm from St. Francis by the Lakes Church, 192 First Lake Drive, Lower Sackville with Archbishop Ron Cutler officiating. Interment will take place in Oakridge Memorial Gardens at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken can be made directly to St. Francis by the Lakes Church or a charity of your choice.

 

Special thank you to the nursing staff at the Cobequid Community Health Centre, Dr. Colbey, Dr. Issa and Dr. Scott, Kelton R.N for their care and compassion towards Ken and our family; also a heartfelt thank you to Archbishop Ron Cutler for being present in our time of need. (Arbor Memorial)
