DOW, Sidney Ralph - Born April 12, 1926, in Halifax, he resided in peaceful Bayside for 59 years, and passed away after a short battle with lung disease in QEII Health Sciences Centre on Friday, December 22, 2006. Sidney was a navy veteran of the Second World War. He was the son of predeceased parents, Roderick and Muriel Dow. He is survived by the loves of his life, his wife, Eva Elizabeth Dow; sons, Stephen (Mary Ellen) Dow, Stuart (Sheri) Dow, Charles Dow (Mary), along with daughter, Beverly Daoust and her husband Andre. He is also survived by his his cheerful loving grandchildren, Sarah, Tracy and Lisa Dow, Fraser Munro, Sydney Daoust, Cathy Huntley and Natalie Fortin. Sidney was a hockey player with the Prospect Road Old Timers League for several years. He was a lifetime member and avid golfer at both Granite Springs and Indian Lake Golf Courses. Sidney truly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish with his sons and friends. He loved walking at Granite Springs Golf Course during the winter months. For several years, Sidney was the President of the Atlantic Home and School Association. While presiding in this position, he played an enormous part in the consolidation of the schools on the Prospect Road area. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 27 in United Baptist Church in Bayside at 1 p.m. The service will be performed by Rev. Adele Crowell. There will be a reception following in Sidney and Eva Dow's home at 4408 Prospect Rd. The burial will be held at a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Bayside Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Sidney always had a great sense of humor and a wonderful wit. He will be greatly missed by all.
