HAMILTON, John Peter, Lt, O-30360, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Herbert Hamilton, of Vancouver, British Columbia.

 

Lt Hamilton died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives.

HMCS DISCOVERY - Enlisted 14 Apr 1942.  Commenced Active Service 09 Nov 1942 as a Probationer Sub-Lieutenant, RCNVR

HMCS KINGS - Appointed to KINGS 19 Nov 1942, Add'l for training and disposal

* Appointed Sub-Lieutenant, RCNVR (seniority 09 Nov 1942)

HMCS FORT RAMSAY - Appointed to Fort Ramsay 01 Mar 1943, Add'l for duty with NOIC Gaspe

* Appointed Acting Lieutenant, RCNVR 15 Jan 1944

HMCS ALBERNI -Appointed to ALBERNI 25 Jan 1944
