PLOTT, John, L/Sto, V23829, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of John and Janet Plott, of Montreal, Province of Quebec; brother of James.  John was born in Scotland and came to Canada with his parents at the age of 6 years.

 

Leading Stoker Plott died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives.  Prior to enlisting, John was employed as a Helper with the Canadian Pacific Railway.

HMCS ASSINIBOINE - Drafted to ASSINIBOINE 14 Oct 1941.  John was serving in ASSINIBOINE during her battle with U-210
