ROCHON, Jean-Paul (John) - It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the loss of Jean-Paul, known as John to most, who passed away peacefully at home January 8th, 2024.

A devoted husband of 48 years, and father of three, John will be loved and greatly missed by all those whose lives he has touched. With his infectious smile and good-natured sense of humour, John was able to light up any room and brighten the day.

Predeceased by his wife Edith (nee Sweeney), his mother Juliette (nee Seguin), his father Harry, his brothers Guy, Claude, Gerald, Vince, Victor, Dennis, Rene, Lucien, Conrad, Henri, and his sisters Yvette, Theresa, and Celine.

John is survived by his daughter Lisa (Shawn), his sons Jeffrey (Dianne) and Marc (Lisa), his grandchildren Jeremy, Tisha, Robert, Dionna, Brandon and Amber, his great-grandchildren, his sister Jackie (Peter) and his brother Michael.

A career serviceman, John took great pride having served 38 years in the Royal Canadian Navy making countless lasting friendships along the way. John was so dedicated to his career he even attempted to re-join the Navy while retired when the Navy relaxed the rules regarding mandatory retirement age. When John was not being called to duty, he was a loving and caring husband and father who always put the need of others before himself.

As an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, John would work hard but play harder. Sports were a big part of John's life, and hockey was his passion, playing well into his 600. The rink was almost John's second home and between playing, coaching, watching his sons and grandson play, John even took to driving the zamboni. He also enjoyed both watching and playing baseball, curling, squash, and loved his football and fishing. John remained active in his later years by playing horseshoes and darts weekly with his good friends.
