In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
STEWART, Victoria Elizabeth (née LAVIS) - Is now at peace and with Jesus having passed away at home, in her 95th year. Devoted wife of the late Edward (2004) and predeceased by her sister Marie (2022) and brother Albert (2011), Victoria will be remembered for her generosity, adventurous spirit, and her fierce determination to remain independent in her own home.
Victoria was an accomplished woman. Having served in the Women's Royal Canadian Navy Service division as a junior officer, she then became a teacher in Windsor, where she met Edward. Together they loved travelling - Great Britain was a favourite in Europe, along with the Caribbean and Florida - always with camera in hand to capture the sights. And when at home - socializing with the neighbours on Sunnylea was the order of the day.
Many thanks to Dr. Cohane and the many caregivers, especially Ruth and Yendi, for their endless patience and compassionate care for Victoria over the past several years, as well as to Pastors Nancy Webb and Brenda Mann for their spiritual support. Special thanks to her goddaughter Linda for being there with prayers and the open heart Victoria often needed.
Following Victoria's wishes a visitation will be held Sunday January 28th between 7 and 9 pm at Ridley Funeral Home (at Fourteenth St. between Kipling and Islington Aves). A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Monday, January 29 at 10 am after which Victoria will be transported to Windsor to be buried alongside her parents at the Victoria Memorial Cemetery.
