PREECE, Raymond George  - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Preece on March 5 in Victoria. Left to mourn are his wife Ethel, son Ken of Delta, sister Pamela Montie (Ken) of Vernon, nieces, nephews and many close friends. Raymond and twin brother Ronald (now deceased) were born in Winnipeg and raised in Point du Bois, Manitoba. Both brothers joined the Canadian Navy, initially serving on the east coast and then transferring to the west coast. Ray served 26 years with the RCN, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked for seven years at DND Dockyard as an electrician. He left employment at the age of 50 to pursue his many hobbies and interests, namely building the cottage at Kemp Lake, fishing at Otter Point, sailing, photography, music and travel. Garage sales were his favorite pastime on Saturday morning, and he delighted in bargaining for all things electrical, electronic and mechanical. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have Ray in our lives will miss him dearly and will cherish the memories of a life well lived. Family and friends are invited to share their memories on March 27 at a Memorial Tea in the Garden Room at 4725 Falaise Drive at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Do what makes you happy, Look upon what gives you joy, Listen to what lifts your spirit, Speak to those who warm your heart, Surround yourself with sights and sounds And people who make you smile.
