WELSH, Randall Vincent - 92, Lower Sackville, formerly of East LaHave, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born at Pool's Cove, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late William George and Caroline (Brown) Welsh. During the Second World War, Randall served in the Royal Canadian Navy and after the war he went salt fishing out of the ports of Riverport and Lunenburg. Later, Randall was a chief cook on the Imperial boats and then chief cook and steward with the Department of Transport. Prior to retirement, he worked as a commissioner with National Sea Products, Lunenburg. Randall was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 23, Lunenburg and in earlier years was a member of Trinity United Church, Rose Bay. He is survived by daughters, Carolyn (Sheldon) Crouse, Lower Sackville; Barbara Welsh, Kentville; sons, Carson (Julia), East LaHave; Glen (Joan) , Wileville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Welsh, Whynott's Settlement; sisters, Vera Welsh, Ottawa; Florence Colburn, Lunenburg; Beatrice Squires, Brampton; brothers, Carl Welsh, Horace Welsh, both of Pool's Cove; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Anne (Lindsay) Hill, Calvin (Christine) Colp; Rupert (Betty) Colp, all of Whynott's Settlement; and Ted (Suzanne) Colp, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice Evans; second wife, Alma Colp; son, Vincent; brothers, Wynn, Charles, Carson, Richard; sisters, Ivy, Hilda, and a grandson, Michael. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today, Rev. James Slack Jr. and Rev. Robert Zinck officiating. Interment will be in Harbour View Cemetery, Rose Bay. Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Harbour View Cemetery.
