In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MALONE, Donald Edward (Ted) - Eighty-five year old Donald Edward “Ted” Malone passed away suddenly at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 30, 2010.
Ted was born in Natal, BC on August 6, 1925 to parents George and Anna Malone. As a young man Ted enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy, proudly serving his country during WWII. Following his discharge from the Military, Ted began a lengthy career as a saw filer, working for the lumber industry until his retirement in 1986.
An avid outdoorsman, Ted enjoyed a challenging round of golf with family and friends, casting his fishing line into the waters hoping to catch the big one, or hunting the backwoods he knew so well. Regardless of the season, Ted cherished any opportunity to spend time in Mother Nature’s playground.
Ted is survived by his children: Ted Malone, Keri-Jo Malone (Curtis Human) and Alanna (Guy) Corrigan, 9 grandchildren: Amanda and Matt Bruintjets, Taylor Malone, Layne and Kyra Corrigan, Karen and Darren Jensen, and Chris and Carrie Human, and 5 great grandchildren: Noah, Jaden, MiKayla, Web, and Hailex. Also left to mourn, his sister Ann (Jack) Craig and sisters-in-law Alvina Malone and Anna (Ron) Jenkins, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his son Danny, his brother Geordie Malone who died on January 11, 2010 in Nelson, BC, and his beloved wife Della (nee MacQuarrie).
A Memorial Service was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Friday, November 5th with Rev. Raquel Mack of the Christ Church Anglican officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Senior Citizen’s Drop In Center. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd. (The Fernie Free Press 30 Oct 2010)
