HARVEY, Hazel Lillian - Peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2008 Hazel passed away at the age of 86. Hazel was predeceased by sisters Eva Muldrew (Cecil) and Marie Harvey. She is survived by sister Betty and brother-in-law Clay Jones of Vancouver. Hazel will be missed by her nieces and nephews that she enjoyed so much: Dennis Muldrew, Doug Jones, Betty Lodewyks, Tom Jones, Larry Muldrew, Debra Harvey and Bryan Jones. Hazel was born in Winnipeg. After graduating from Kelvin High School, she joined the WRCNS and served overseas for three and a half years. Following the war she returned to Winnipeg, where she graduated from nursing at St. Boniface Hospital. In 1952 she went back to England for the queen's coronation. Instead of returning to Canada, she travelled the world for the next 12 years, nursing and making many friends. Among her many destinations she spent years in England, in France and Germany with the RCAF and at the Singapore Hospital in Malaya. She returned to Winnipeg in 1964, continued her nursing career working at St. Boniface Hospital, doing vascular research with Dr. Carter. After retirement she continued to travel. Hazel's interests included being active with the Wrens, the Sons of Scotland and the First Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street), at 11:00 a.m. Following the service will be an interment at her Mother and Father's grave in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Boniface Research Foundation or charity of your choice Neil Bardal Inc. (The Winnipeg Free Press 01 Apr 2008)
