In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HUXTER, Stephen Wayne (Steve) - Age 66 of Halifax. It is with great sorrow we relate that Steve passed away on April 26th, 2024, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax, after a lengthy illness. Steve was born in Oromocto, NB, grew up in Sheffield Mills, NS and attended Kings VOC High and Kingstec in Kentville. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in the Valley and beyond with his friends and family. Like his father Raymond, Steve enlisted and served in the Canadian Armed Forces, achieving the rank of leading seaman before moving back into civilian life in the 1990s.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jean Huxter; brother Tim (ex-Lynn), nephews Kyle (Canning) and Calvin (Ft. McMurray); brother Darren Huxter (Avril) nephews Nick and Owen of Quebec; aunts Judy Merrett, and Barb (Merrett; Canning); uncles Rick Merrett (New Minas), Garth Merrett (Ontario), and Ken Huxter (Lower Sackville); nieces Railene (Hall's Harbour), Anita (Kentville), nephews Richard and Brian (Edmonton); close friends Rosemary (Edmonton), Randy and Sharon (New Minas), Billy and Linda Patterson (Hall's Harbour), Bronson Patterson (Baxter Harbour), Greg and Bub Hayes (Bedford), Paul Corbett, Dale and Dirk Martinson (Oromocto, N.B.), and many more.
He is predeceased by his brothers Raymond and Ken.
From Jean: you were my life and my love for 43 years. I will miss our times together; I thought we had more time. Farewell until I see you again.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. In keeping with Steve’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. To leave a condolence, please visit the tribute page.
