In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
LINKLATER, John Reginald (Jack) - passed away peacefully at his home with his wife Jean by his side. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Jean; by his daughter Pat Lee; his son Jack (Dorothy) Linklater; his grandchildren, Jason (Rhonda) Linklater and their children Anya and Aidan, Peter Linklater, Naomi (Mark) Glockzin and their children Brayden and Kalen, David Linklater, Ruthe Linklater, Cory Lee, and Brenda Lee. He will also be sadly missed by Wayne and Carol Lee and their children, Adam and Kylin; as well as by numerous nephews, nieces and friends. His loss will also be mourned by May Linklater and her son Jeff Linklater. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather. He served his counter with honour and distinction in the Second World War as a leading seaman aboard HMCS Huron. Following the war he re-mustered to the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served as a bandsman (trumpeter) with the Tactical Air Command Band (known to all his fellow servicemen as "Snuffy"), and as an aircraft electrician at bases in Canada and in Germany. Jack was a gentle man with a caring and loving heart and a great sense of humour. It is hard to say good-bye but we find peace in knowing that he is at home with his Maker. In keeping with the generous way in which he led his life, Jack has donated his body to Medical Science. Those who wish to may make donations in memory of Jack to the Salvation Army. His family wishes to extend special thanks to all home care workers and nurses who reached out to Jack in his later years. We rejoice in the life we had with you Dad and miss you hugely already. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 133 Niakawa Rd., 17th floor. (the Winnipeg Free Press 10 May 2003)
