Petty Officer 1st Class Radio Techician, RCN / C.A.F. (Navy)

Born: 02 Jun 1934

PETERS, Raymond E. - Dad died peacefully on May 19, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife, Paula, they shared 4 children: Deb (Gary), Ross (Akiko), Denise and Deirdre (Bruce) along with 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Ray will be remembered by his partner of 25 years, Cindy and his siblings: Donna (Don), Mervin (Roberta), Reg (Sheila) and many nieces and nephews. Ray was proud of his career as a Submariner in the Royal Canadian Navy, a career that spanned nearly 30 years and which provided the opportunity to travel the world and form friendships with sailors from various nations. Once he retired from the Navy, Dad worked for Department of National Defense. Ray's main leisure activity was chasing a little white ball around a golf course. Ray and Cindy, liked to travel - visiting family and friends and for Ray to play in golf tournaments all over the world. Ray was (in)famous for entertaining his guests by playing the accordion and sharing (sometimes reluctantly) his single malt scotch. As we reflect on our Dad's life, we are reminded of his passion for science and how he willingly shared his knowledge as instructor. Ray is fondly remembered for: his 'Snidely Whiplash' mustache; his pocket protector; having Chiclets in his pocket for his grandkids - Melissa and Michael; participating with his grandson, Nate, in the 'golf ' trifecta; his carpetbagger steaks; smoking cigars and his ability to stretch a story. We love you, Dad and miss you. For details on Ray's Celebration of Life, please contact woraypeterscol@gmail.com (The Victoria Times Colonist 22 Jun 2024)
