McLAUCHLAN, John Charles - 76 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Dartmouth General Hospital on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
He was born in Toronto in January, 1948 to Beatrice Irene O’Grady and Robert McLauchlan.
John left Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute in 1964 and joined the Navy for a few years. This career choice brought him to Halifax where he met the love of his life, Lynda. They married in 1967 and created a family and life together in Dartmouth. Wanting to settle down with his family, he left the navy and became business Partner/manager at the Wyse Road Harvey’s restaurant in Dartmouth and then finally a self-made businessman with multiple businesses between his homes in Toronto and Dartmouth, NS.
He is survived by wife Linda (Crawley) McLauchlan, son Michael John McLauchlan (Susan), daughters Nancy-Lyn McLauchlan Laing (Nickon) and Leanne Nicole McLauchlan Simms (Greg). Grandchildren Kathleen McLauchlan (Billy), Sam Simms and Nolan McLauchlan. Great-Grandson William Barker. Aunt Margaret Bird, niece Laurie Hackett, nephew TomHackett, brother-in-law and best friend Paul Hackett and also several special cousins.
John is predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Beatrice and Michael Tibando and father Robert McLauchlan. Mother and father-in-law Mary and Bub Crawley and sister-in-law Nancy Hackett. And several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will take place at John’s Office, The Hub Too, Thursday May 30th. 55 Tacoma Drive, Dartmouth.
A special thank you to the DGH Palliative care staff 5W their kindness and care will be forever appreciated, and another special thank you to all our Dad’s extended family at Busters on the Bluff and The Hub Too.
