In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PARISEE, James Theodore (Jim) - age 87 of Middle Sackville, NS passed away suddenly on May 8th at the Cobequid Community Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario on September 27th, 1936 , he was the son of: Theodore Parisee and Alice Parisee (Guttridge).
Jim grew up in Smooth Rock Falls in northern Ontario. In his youth he served 10 years in the Royal Canadian Navy during the 50s & 60s. After leaving the navy he came back to Smooth Rock Falls to work at the Abitibi Pulp & Paper Mill, but he longed to return to Geraldine (Gee Gee) who he fell in love with while serving in Halifax. So back to Halifax Jim returned, where he worked various jobs before working at Hudson’s Bay Wholesalers as a salesperson and then the warehouse manager. It was not long before he and Gee had given birth to three children: Rhonda, Ted & Jamie.
Between Jim’s times at Hudson’s Bay, he also worked for A.J. Hustins and Mack Maritime. Following Hudson’s Bay, he then worked for the Halifax School Board and retired after 8 years of service in 2001. Since retiring Jim spent most of his free time with Gee’s father, Bob, taking Bob wherever he needed to go and making sure he was at every senior’s event.
Jim spent a lot of time in the woods, be it involved with the Boy Scouts or just out there cutting his firewood. He held various positions at the 50 Plus Club & the Silver and Gold, and he was a member of the Sackville Legion. Jim organized bus trips for the seniors on a regular basis, sometimes to Moncton, NB, sometimes trips down to the United States.
Jim was dedicated to caring for Gee for his remaining years and he loved and was very proud of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved his family very much and he will be missed by us all.
