BUTLER, Perry Archibald - 80, of Allains Creek, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on June 22, 1943 in Kentville, at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital. Perry is the eldest son of the late Perry Archibald Butler Sr. and the late Leah (Turbitt). Perry started his career by joining the Royal Canadian Navy on July 19th, 1963 at H.M.C.S Stadacona in Halifax, NS, at the age of 20. He did his basic training at H.M.C.S. Cornwallis. On November 1st, 1963 Perry graduated from Cornwallis and transferred to H.M.C.S. Shearwater. This is where he took his engine and airplane course at Fleet school. He worked at five squadrons on the base plus sailed in the aircraft carrier H.M.C.S Bonaventure. Perry was transferred to C.F.B. St Hubert, QC. He worked at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Plant in Longueuil as Quality Assurance Inspector of D.N.D. Perry then was transferred to C.F.B. Edmonton, Alberta. Here Perry worked on helicopters & planes. While there Perry travelled to C.F.B. Wainwright and Vernon, B.C. on field exercises. Lastly Perry was transferred to 450 Squadron and he retired in April 1988. Perry started as commissioner at the Upper Clements Theme Park. Then worked at the Annapolis Town Hall for six months. Next he started work at A.D.I.L plant which only lasted a few days then it closed. Lastly Perry was a security guard at the Annapolis Royal jail. He joined Port Royal Canadian Legion Branch 21 Annapolis Royal and received his Life Membership. He also joined the Annapolis Royal Lions Club and received his life membership there as well. Perry leaves to mourn, his wife Joyce May (Spurr) Butler of 59 years; brothers, Charles (Dorothy), Granville Ferry; William (Donna Lee), Granville Ferry; sisters, Donna Lou (Gordon Spurr), Dugway Road; brother-in-law, Larry Hudson, Port Wade; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Sarah Hudson; brother, Gordon and infant brother Edward; niece, Terry Milne; nephew, Lee Hudson. Visitation will be held 7 -9 pm Tuesday, May 14, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with a Legion service starting at 7pm, followed by a Lions service. A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, May 15, in St. George & St. Andrew United Church, Annapolis Royal. Officiated by Rev. Alex Constable. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Dugway Road with a reception to follow at the Annapolis Royal Legion. Donations in memory of Perry may be made to the Oakhill Cemetery.
