ERA Watt died when HMCS SHAWINIGAN was sunk by U-1228 on 24 Nov 1944. Of her crew of 91, there were no survivors.
Engine Room Artificer Conway James Watt age 22, R.C.N.V.R., Son of James and Freida Watt, 718 Galt Ave. Verdun, Québec, who was previously reported missing following the sinking of H.M.C.S. Shawinigan, is now, for official purposes presumed dead. He enlisted in May 09, 1942, and had served in many parts of the world, including the Mediterranean, Iceland, Greenland and the Murmansk run to Russia. He was born in Verdun, Québec.
