Roy (Moe) Maurice

Retired from the Navy 27 Aug 1978

 

ROY, Maurice (Moe) - After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Moe passed away on March 10, 2012 at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Wendy, daughters Annette Roy and Karen (Doug) VanOs, step-children Ron (Kathy) Green and Shannon (Matt) Kraeker, sisters Agnes Willerton, Marie (Bert) Leis and Lorraine Johnson, brothers-in-law Frank Carter and John LeBlanc, 10 grand-children and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Flora, four sisters Rita Robinson, Jane Bernard, Yvonne Carter and Kay LeBlanc and step-daughter Wanda Foss. Moe was born in St. Rose du Lac and moved to Winnipeg as a child. He was a Sea Cadet at HMCS Chipawa and attended Tech Voc High School. He left Winnipeg in 1958 to join the Navy and settled in Victoria, BC. He retired from the Navy in 1978 and went on to work as a Chef Instructor at a Victoria area high school. He retired in Parksville, BC. Moe was a cook by trade and carpenter/handy-man by love. The world has lost a wonderful man, husband, father, brother and friend. A celebration of Moe's life will be held on May 26, 2012 in Qualicum, BC. (The Winnipeg Free Press 19 May 2012)
