Fergus Patterson Brydon

Sailor 2nd Class, Marine Technician / Ship's Diver, RCN

Born: 27 Nov 1996, Kenville, Nova Scotia, Canada

Died: 12 Sep 2024

BRYDON, Fergus Patterson - Age 27, passed away on September 12, 2024. Fergus was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, in November 1996. He graduated from Charles P. Allen High School and was a proud member of the Cheetahs football team. Fergus attended Saint Mary’s University, where he continued his passion for athletics. In 2021, Fergus embarked on a career as a Marine Technician with the Canadian Armed Forces and became a Certified Ship’s Diver 0027 (AHCU), sailing to Iqaluit, Greenland, the Caribbean, and many other places he was so excited to experience.

In February 2024, Sailor 2nd Class Brydon was awarded The Chief of the Defence Staff Commendation for his professionalism in response to two emergencies onboard HMCS Margaret Brooke. In the midst of a winter storm, Fergus helped take immediate corrective actions upon identifying the source of a flood and, hours later, he responded to a fire alarm, working in darkness, cold temperatures, and high seas. Fergus was always modest but deservedly proud of his achievements with the Navy, and was always willing and eager to support his colleagues.

Fergus was kind, generous and funny, but also introverted, introspective, and thoughtful. He cared about people in the purest way and he loved them for who they were, always wanting the best for them. He loved his family and close friends, and cherished being an uncle, making forever memories with his young nephew and niece.

He loved the peacefulness of being in nature, spending time outdoors hiking or on the hunt for new adventures and experiences. A lifelong animal lover, animals were drawn to his caring and gentle disposition, and it was Fergus’s dream to own land and have his own dog pack.

Fergus was brave, and truly up for any experience, whether it was travelling across Canada and Europe or expressing his creativity through stand-up comedy. Fergus was filled with so much goodness, bringing so much happiness to others, and lived a life of accomplishment and promise. It was a joy just to be in his presence. We love you, Ferg.

Fergus is deeply loved and forever missed by his mother Kelly, sisters Caitlin (Devin) and Aiden (Lucas), brother Liam, nephew Bram and niece Maud.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Fergus with his family at T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 85 Sackville Cross Road, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia at 2:00 pm. on Friday September 20th.

In honor of Fergus, his family would appreciate donations to Nova Scotia SPCA in his name. (TK Barnard Funeral Home)
