SAMPLE, Wilfred G. - In loving memory of Wilfred "Wilf" Gordon Sample who died on September 16th in Victoria.
Wilf joined the Navy in 1967 and was active until 1992. Wilf served on the HMCS Huron in the summer of 1991 which was deployed to the Persian Gulf.
Wilf's son Rob was christened on the HMCS Yukon and his name is engraved on the ships bell. Wilf then moved on to owning his own towing company from 1992-2009.
Wilf was an avid hunter and loved to fish in his free time. In 2012 Wilf set out with his loving wife Pat and pets Charlie, Lady Bell and Candy on a trip through North America in an RV, their travels lasted 8 years ending in 2019. Wilf loved life and his family more than anything.
Wilf is predeceased by his father Jack Sample and his mother Doreen (Sample) Morley.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Sample, son Robert Sample, sister Iris Wall, Brothers Jack Sample (Diana), Randy Sample (Susan) and members of Patricia's family Nora Hughes, Nancy Offenwanger (Kurt), Barbara Scorgie and Brett Hughes (Sheryl)
Wilfred had a love an animals, especially dogs. He was able to donate his pacemaker to a veterinarian clinic to create a pacemaker for a dog in need. (The Victoria Times Colonist 28 Sep 2024)
