FOSTER, John Patrick, Able Seaman, V499, RCNVR, died - 31 Jul 1944, HMCS MULGRAVE - Son of Charles John and Margaret Ann Foster, of Houlton, Maine, USA

 

AB Foster died at the Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, Hampshire, England due to injuries sustained in an accident.  AB Foster was returning from leave to his ship, HMCS MULGRAVE, on a harbour craft when the harbour craft was involved in a collision with a Landing Ship Tank (LST) in harbour.  AB Foster was severely injured with both legs being crushed and traumatically amputated. AB Foster was rushed to hospital where succumbed to his injuries.  He was buried in the Royal Naval Cemetery, Haslar, Hampshire, UK
