They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
EMERSLUND, Arnold Goodwin, Tel, 3691, RCN, DOW - 13 Sep 1942, HMCS OTTAWA - Son of Kristian Emerslund, and of Mabel B. Emerslund, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Telegraphist Emerslund died when HMCS OTTAWA H60 was torpedoed and sunk by U-91 on 13 Sep 1942. Tel Emerslund was rescued but died of injuries while on the rescue ship. He was buried at sea. Of the OTTAWA'S crew of 175, plus 50 survivors they had picked up, there were only 69 survivors.
