GALLAGHER, John Fraser, Lt, RCNVR, MPK - 20 Sep 1943, HMCS ST CROIX - Son of Leo Joseph and Frances Mary Gallagher, of Fredericton, New Brunswick; husband of Margaret Elizabeth Gallagher, of St. John's, Newfoundland.

 

Lt Gallagher died when his ship, HMCS ST CROIX was torpedoed and sunk by U 305 on 20 Sep 1943, south of Iceland. Five officers and 76 men were rescued by HMS ITCHEN, but only one of these survived the loss of ITCHEN on 23 Sep 1943.
