RYAN, Melvin (Mel) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Melvin "Mel" Ryan of New Glasgow on Saturday, October 12, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.
Mel was born on September 20, 1938 in Trenton. Mel joined and served in the Navy before he moved to Hamilton, Ont. where he worked for many years and retired from Westinghouse. In 2004, Mel moved back to Nova Scotia. It was here he reunited with the love of his life and spent the last 20 years enjoying time together. Mel loved to tinker, whether it be on his John Deere lawn tractor or his Husqvarna snow blower. Mel was always perfecting his property.
He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Beverly; children: Melanie, John, Tammy; step-children: Cathy, Clifford, Jody; grandchildren: Sierra and Mya. He also leaves behind his fur companion, Petey and his two best buddies, Brian and Glennie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edith and Charles his siblings: Leamon, Jimmy, Billy and Mae.
As per Mel’s wishes, no visitation or service will be held. In honor of Mel’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA, Stellarton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, NS.
