WRIGHT, Tom Gord (Tiny) - passed away on October 21, 2024, peacefully with his family by his side after a long illness.

"Gord," as he was known to his family, was born in Brampton, Ontario, on December 27, 1945. His parents, Thomas and Elsie Nee Tribble Wright, and brothers Jim and Kenneth predeceased him.

Tom is survived by his loving family, wife Jean Nee Jennex, daughters Lisa and Dara, and son James. Sister-in-laws Jerrie Burnett, Pauline Jennex, and Myrna Blakeney. Nieces and nephews Amber, Brie, Josh, and Kris.

Tom "Tiny," named by his buddies because of his tall stature, joined the Armed Forces roughly 60 years ago. His first posting was to Shearwater, Nova Scotia. During this time, he met the love of his life, Jean. They married in July 1967.

During Tom’s military career, he served on the HMCS Bonaventure, Assiniboine, and Iroquois. Years later, his daughter, Sergeant Dara Wright, also served on the HMCS Iroquois, making her father very proud. Tom has also traveled worldwide, maintaining aircraft from Iceland to Brazil.

Everywhere Tom was posted, he made friends for life and was well-loved by all. He was posted to Lahr, Germany, in 1984. He immensely enjoyed traveling, partaking in Volksmarches, and hanging out at Tony’s and Helmut's Bar.

The Legion was an important part of Tom's life. He enjoyed visiting his buddies, having a beer, and reminiscing. He was a member of the Somme and Lunenburg Legion Branches. He was a massive advocate for Veterans and, when possible, volunteered for the Poppy Fund.

In later years, Tom enjoyed going south to enjoy the beaches, food, and drink with family and friends. He especially loved Barbados and became the designated tour guide.

Celebration of Life will be held at Lunenburg Legion on November 3 at 1 pm.

Donations can be made in Tom's memory to the Cancer Society or The Halifax Hospice.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses, and Healthcare workers for their kindness, support, and care shown to Tom over the years. A special thanks to Ann-Marie, Tom's own Earth Angel. (Dartmouth Funeral Home and Crematorium Ltd)
