FISHER, James McWirter - May 11, 1982, James M. Fisher, aged 76 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Fisher, 226 - 91 Street, N.E., dear father and father-in-law of Margaret and Jack Matheson; James Fisher and John and Charlotte Fisher, all of Calgary, and Sharon and Don Childs, London, Ontario. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Munro, Medicine Hat and Jean Fast, Victoria, B.C., and a brother, David; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister. Born at Maybole, Scotland he came to Canada in 1912 to Calgary and received his education at Calgary and resided at Calgary since. He was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy. Mr. Fisher was employed with the City of Calgary, Sanitation Department for over twenty-five years and as in inspector for a number of years until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Albert No 1 Branch), Calgary. Services at Leyden's Chapel of Remembrance (1719 - 2 St. S.W.), Friday, 2:30 p.m. with Rev. L. George Ledrew officiating. Interment, Mountain View memorial Gardens.
Ships served in: HMCS WINDFLOWER - James survived the sinking of HMCS WINDFLOWER when she was accidentally rammed and sunk in a dense fog off Newfoundland while escorting convoy SC.58.
