James Douglas (Jim) Stutely

Died: 07 Sep 2019, Truro, Nova Scotia

 

STUTELY, James Douglas (Jim) - Age 79, of Bible Hill, pass- ed away peace-fully on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in Montreal, Que., he was a son of the late Edith and Robert Stutely. Jim joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1959 as a communicator and retired in 1985 as the communications technician. He went on to join the Naval Reserves, giving him a total of 35 years combined service. Jim served on several ships, including the HMCS Kootenay and still remained a member of the Kootenay Family who gather yearly for the anniversary of the Kootenay Disaster of 1969. Jim had many hobbies, which included: woodworking, hiking, playing cards, especially bridge, fishing, tennis and of course his favorite, badminton which he played for over 65 years. Jim is survived by his stepsons, Tom Levesque (Nikki) and Jamie Levesque; sons, James, Michael and Glen; grandchildren, Emma and Hailey Levesque and Casey Rhodes (Eric). Predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret; son, John; brother, Roy; sisters, Dorothy and Marian. A special thank you to Colchester East Hants staff for their exceptional compassion and care. A visitation to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Monday, September 16th from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville.
