WOOD, Douglas - It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Wood age 87 of Bridgewater, NS.
Loving husband to Maggie Wood, father to Judy Wood (deceased in infancy) Cynthia Wood (Ryan Mccreery) Lakelands NS , Stephen Wood (Sandra) Stewiacke, NS. Grandfather to Yvonne Sylvette Lazor, Vancouver, BC, Michael Wood (Cindy) Fort Ellis, NS, Ryan Wood(Kristina Frank) Carrolls Corner and Lindsay Merriam (Jarom) Shortts Lake. Great Grandfather to Brooklynne, Savannah, Kayden, Payton, Emma, Adrian, Kohen, Bhrea, Grayson and Easton. brother-in-law, Reg Bellefontaine (Josie) Lawrencetown, sisters-in-law Theresa Bellefontaine, Gwen Bellefontaine and Rosella Bellefontaine. West Chezzetcook.
He also leaves behind two special pets, his kitties (Maddie and Missy).
He was a proud 36 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy.
Earlier in his life he was an avid hunter, and enjoyed the outdoors especially snowmobiling. He also had a passion for curling and was a dedicated proud member of the Bridgewater Curling Club. He enjoyed his gardening and daily walks through the neighbourhood. He was a die hard fan of the Toronto Blue Jays from inception.
He was an avid woodworker and produced many beautiful projects, which his family happily benefited from.
Cremation has taken place. There will be an informal gathering to celebrate Doug’s life to be held at the Bridgewater Curling Club 14 September from 2-4 PM.
