FOGATA
Auxiliary Patrol Ship
Little is known of the Fogata. Although obtained locally, she displayed many features of a New England built 'Menhaden Trawler'. Her vertical stem - raked aft funnel - datum deck - gunnels - dove-tail stern and draft, are striking resemblance. Stationed in St. John's, NFLD was fitted with one 12 pdr gun 3 cwt., one 3pdr. gun and a wireless installation - call sign VYC. In 1915 she was transferred to RCN. Paid off by the RCN in 1918, she went back to private interest.
