HMCS MESSINES / Lightship No. 3
Battle Class Trawler
Built by Polson Iron Works, Toronto, Ont., she was launched on 16 Jun 1917. Her specifications were: Displacement: 357 tons, Length: 130 ft, Beam: 25 ft, Draught: 13 ft, Speed: 10 kts, Armament: 1-12pdr. Along with three sisters, MESSINES began a short commission on 13 Nov 1917 and in 1920 was handed over to the Department of Marine and Fisheries to become a lightship. Eventually designated Lightship No. 3, she was scrapped in 1962.
