Minesweeping Auxiliary
Former Oil Rig Logistics Support Vessel Joyce Tide, she was converted at Marystown, Nfld., to provide Reserve personnel with training in minesweeping and coastal defence. Early in 1990, she joined the joint British/Netherlands NATO Exercise Safe Pass 90. In 1992, trials of her side-scan sonar led to the discovery of a WW2 casualty, the tanker British Freedom, outside Halifax. Transferred to Esquimalt, she left Halifax in company with HMCS Edmonton on 03 Mar 1997. She was paid off on 10 Mar 2000 and turned over to Crown assets for disposal. Like her sister, she was sold commercially in Jan 2002. She was renamed numerous times and as of 2014 is a tug in Panama named Ramco Express.
