HMCS SUMMERSIDE 711
Kingston Class Maritime Coastal Defence Vessel
The last of her class, she was built at Halifax Shipyards Ltd., Halifax, N.S. Launched on 26 Sep 1998, she was commissioned at Summerside, P.E.I. on 18 Jul 1999. She was assigned to the east coast. On 07 Mar 2016, wile deployed to OP CARRIBE, HMCS SUMMERSIDE with members of a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) embarked, intercepted a drug smuggling vessel in the waters of Nicaragua and seized 16 bales of cocaine weighing approx 364 kilograms.
On 06 May 2024, HMCS SUMMERSIDE departed Halifax for a 9-week deployment on Op Caribbe, Canada's contribution to a U.S.-led enhanced counter-narcotics operations, in the Caribbean region and will join HMCS MARGARET BROOKE, already deployed.
