DEMPSTER, Lawrence Atherton (Moose), C2BN, 3782-E, RCN (served 15 Jul 1940 - 15 Jul 1961) - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend on September 24th, 2002. He passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his bedside. Laurie was born in Chase, BC, on October 7th, 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940. After his retirement from the Navy in 1961 he joined the BC Ferries where he worked until his retirement in 1982. He was a quiet, loyal and dedicated person and will be sorely missed by all that knew him. He was a member of the Haida Association and the Chiefs and PO's Association. Laurie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Audrey; his daughter Beverly (Jack) Sinclair, his two sons Kevin and Rick (Lourdes) and his granddaughters Amanda, Tiffany and Laurie. He was predeceased by his loving sister Eileen in June 2001. The family would like to thank the Victoria Hospice Society and Dr. Mary-Wynne Ashford for the wonderful and loving care they gave Dad in his final days at home. He fought a brave battle with the same disease that took his lovely Doris in 1969. Also known as the Whistler, Twinkle Toes, or Pops he leaves behind so many memories. DAHL, Ronald Martin, C1WS, RCN / C.A.F. (served 04 Sep 1951 - 09 Jul 1982) - passed away on March 15, 2004 at Glenwood Rest Home in Agassiz, BC, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ronald was born on July 19, 1934 in Vancouver, BC. Ron is survived by his loving family, wife Barbara, children, Ron (Chyrl), Shannon, stepchildren, Caroline (Chris) and Stephen, grandchildren, Tanya, Renee, Dylan, Jake and Roni. Ron was predeceased by his parents and his two sisters. Ron had a long and distinguished career of 31 years as a Chief Petty Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy. His passions in life were his family, golf history and gardening. Missy and Mulligan were his faithful canine partners and spent many hours walking together. A Memorial Service for Ron will be held on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, followed by a reception at Cultus Lake Golf Course. DONALDSON, Harry, C2ER - passed away April 7, 2004 after a long struggle with Parkinson's. He was born in Brechin, Scotland, January 31, 1921. At age 2 he came to Rossland / Trail with his parents. At age 17 he started work at Cominco, obtaining his Journeyman Machinist certification. He served in the navy as an E.R.A with the rank of C.P.O. Harry returned to Rossland, where he again worked at Cominco, until 1955 when he came to Victoria. Here he worked at Dockyard D.N.D until his retirement in 1979. He was predeceased by his son Rob in 1976. He will be missed by Jennie his wife of 48 years, daughter Heather, son Mark (Maki) and grandson Connor. He will also be missed by Aleta and David, and Jeannine, and Bruce. Survived by his sister Jean Matheson of Rossland, neice Donna Jean (Don), and nephew Scott (Linda); his brother Art (Dag), and nephews David, (Sharon) and Richard (Bobbi), great nephew Brett (Lacey). Harry enjoyed golf, curling and fishing. He was a longtime member at Gorge Vale Golf Course and is well known for his long drives. He was a member of the Victoria Curling Club, where he once skipped his team to an 8 -Ender. After retirement, he and Jennie traveled extensively in Canada and abroadand took many trips with the Canadian Seniors International Golfers. He was a quiet modest man with a great sense of humour. DZEOBA, Steve, P1FC, 5884-E, RCN (served 12 Mar 1946 - 15 May 1951 / 15 Aug 1955 - 10 Jun 1978) - passed away peacefully in Victoria on March 14, 2004 with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Irene; brother Harry of Dryden, Ontario; sister-in-law Edna of Nanoose Bay, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve served with distinction in the Royal Canadian Navy for 27 years. He later became a Deputy Sheriff for the B.C. government and finished his working career as an employee of the B.C. Liquor Control Board. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 31 years and a life member of the Chief and Petty Officer's Mess. Steve will long be remembered by his many friends for his wonderful sense of humour. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Sealey and Mary Ann for their care and support throughout Steve's long and courageous battle with cancer. A private family service will be held in his honour. GARNETT, James Smith (Jim) (11 Dec 1923 - 07 Mar 2018) - passed away peacefully at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre on March 7, 2018, at the age of 94 years. He was a resident of Woodland Courts for the last eight years. Jim was a lifelong resident of Selkirk and married Reba Keppy in 1946. For most of their married lives, they lived at 208 Dorchester Avenue. Reba passed away in 2011. Jim has one son, Robert who is married to Donelda (LaRoque) where they reside in East Selkirk. There are two grandchildren, Jeffrey Garnett who lives in Dauphin and Debra Kuzminski in Winnipeg. Debra is married to Paul Kuzminski and they have four children: Matthew, Joshua, Jenna and Ashley. Jim worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mill for 43 years with most of his service being spent in the melt shop. During that period he spent time in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War serving on several ships. He served on the Atlantic until victory in Europe was declared and then moved to the Pacific Ocean until victory over Japan was declared. During this time his ship was sent to Vancouver where he met his wife to be, Reba Keppy. Jim was involved in many community activities. Notably was his church. He was an elder in Knox Presbyterian Church for many years and later joined Lockport Community Church. His faith was an important aspect of his life right until his death. Jim was a long serving Boy Scout leader. He was a leader with the 1st Selkirk Boy Scout Troup for almost 25 years taking part in local, regional and national activities. These activities provided many quality learning experiences for many boys in the Selkirk and area communities. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Manitoba with a luncheon to follow in the Gilbart Reception Centre. NELSON, Raymond Gene (Ray), P1RM, RCN / C.A.F. - (09 May 1938 - 09 Mar 2018) - With deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Ray with his loving wife Peggy (Drewoth) of 59 years by his side. He was predeceased by his eldest son Barry and brothers Jim and Gerry. Ray will be terribly missed by his sons Corey (Brenda) and Mark (Barb), grandchildren Graham (Sara), Daniel (Lindsey), Tanya, Bradley, Carly, Taylor, many nieces, nephews and friends, and his beautiful new great granddaughter Nora Grace whom he was so happy to meet. Ray was a very friendly, easygoing fellow who enjoyed golfing, playing board games & spending lots of time with his family and friends. Retiring in 1979 after 25 years as a communicator in the Navy, Ray and Peggy moved to Abbotsford where he worked for the school district. DUBOWSKI, Thadeus (Ted), C.A.F. (Navy) (12 Feb 1954 - 12 Mar 2018) - of Timberlea, died suddenly on March 12, 2018, at age 64. Born in Hamilton, Ont., to Polish immigrants James (Kazimer) and Irene Dubowski. He joined the Canadian Navy, a marine engineer PO2, serving his country for 30 years. He met his love, Dianne Parnell, in Halifax and married in 1984. They crafted a life together for 34 years. After retirement he enjoyed family and home. Our beloved Ted was a deeply loving, faithful, generous and kind man who made people smile. Predeceased by his father, Ted leaves behind his wife 'dear', Dianne; son, Zachary, Timberlea; daughter, Emily (Alex), of Oromocto, N.B.; precious grandchildren, Lachlan, Max and Bella; mother, Irene; sister, Christine (Ian); brother, Gene; along with many family and friends from childhood, navy and the community. BRUMWELL, Keith Jonathon, RCN / C.A.F. (31 May 1948 - 12 Mar 2018) - After a brief illness, Keith died at home with family by his side. Keith was born in Montreal and was a teenager when he moved with his family to Simcoe, Ont. It was there that he first expressed his love of a uniform working as an usher at the Strand Cinema. He joined the navy as a young man, drawn to Nova Scotia where his older brother was living. It was in the navy, where he trained as a photographer and diver, that Keith was given the foundation that allowed him to become the wonderful person he was. After the navy, Keith changed careers and became a member of the Halifax Police Department so he could better use his people skills and desire to help others. After marrying Lois, the love of his life, and the birth of his sons, Gregory and Ryan, Keith became the first married man from Nova Scotia to join the RCMP. With the unwavering support of Lois, who had two very young children to look after, Keith had to leave his young family for months of training in Regina and the start of a 32 year career in the RCMP. Keith served in many communities throughout Nova Scotia and taught at Depot, the RCMP Training Academy in Regina, Sask., supported by Lois throughout the many moves. During his career in law enforcement, Keith expressed great empathy for those he served so diligently. Keith loved being an RCMP officer and he exemplified the very best of his profession. Keith had many talents, not the least of which was a beautiful singing voice that he shared with his church and various choirs. In his private life, Keith continued to give back to his community serving as a volunteer in over 30 organizations where he not only further showed his work ethic but also his love of life and a good laugh. Keith is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lois; his cherished sons, Gregory (Christelle and granddaughter Joanna) and Ryan; brothers, Gary (Sue), John (Joan), Trevor (Janet) and sister, Cynthia and various nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his brother, Derek; his parents, James and Georgina; and brother-in- law, Mark Isber. A celebration of Keith’s life will be held on Saturday, March 17th, at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 100 Ochterloney St., Dartmouth. DOYLE, Richard, C2BN, RCN - of Victoria, BC. Born 14 Nov 1923  Rick joined the navy at the age of 17 and served on corvettes during WW2.  He was demobilized after the war and later re-enlisted in the RCN.  Rick retired as the Chief of the Seamanship Division (Bos'n School) in 1968 with 31 years service.  He died 05 Jul 2005.

Born in Calgary, Alberta on August 20, 1920, Howard is survived by his wife Stephanie, step-daughter Margaret Shearer, son Ken (Debra), daughter Ann and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Howard served for seven years in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, then worked at the Naval Dockyard until his retirement. He was active in the Masonic Order, a member of Britannia Lodge and other concordant bodies and a member of Gizeh Temple of The Shrine. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. DUFFY, Ronald William, CPO.FC, 26638-E, RCN / C.A.F. (served 23 Aug 1953 - 15 Sep 1983) - Passed away in Victoria on February 13, 2006. He was born in Toronto on September 16, 1933. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 49 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Joanne Anslow (Tony), Jacqueline Slater (Darryl); grandchildren, Krista, Brian, Matthew; step-grandchildren; Nicole, Danielle and Crystal; brother-in-law, Clifford Newman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron served in the R.C.N. for 34 years as a fire control man and retired as a CPO. He went on to work with Mills Systems Engineering. After his final retirement in 1993, he continued to enjoy many hours of Salmon Fishing with longtime friend, Don. Ron also liked golf and curling as well as many fun times travelling with his wife Dorothy. He was an especially dedicated grandpa, actively participating in their lives. DESCOTEAU, Robert Maurice Albert, C2ST, 24739-E,. RCN / C.A.F. (served 25 Nov 1953 - 03 Apr 1980) - After a brief but difficult battle with cancer, beloved husband, dad and grandpa Bob passed away at Victoria Hospice, August 8, 2006. Born December 27, 1935 in Val Marie, Saskatchewan, dad spent his childhood and youth in Calgary, from which he embarked upon a 26-year naval career in 1953. He spent most of those years stationed in Victoria, where, in 1959, he married June. He always enjoyed music and sang in the early 60's with several navy buddies in a band known as The Bugs, who brought early Beatles music to Victoria before it was popular here. They even appeared on Ida Clarkson's Noon Show on CHEK-TV. After leaving the navy he continued his storesman's work at BC Ferries, retiring for good in 1997. Dad also had a love for sports. He bowled, curled, golfed and for a time, played hockey, as well as coaching his sons and many other boys in baseball at National Little League and Saanich Babe Ruth at Reynolds Park. In retirement, he became an avid golfer and active member of the men's club at Ardmore Golf Course. No matter what was going on in his life, dad was always willing to drop everything to give his kids and grandkids help when needed, and for that we will always be grateful. Dad was predeceased by his father Ralph and mother Helene, brothers Pete, Paul and Jules and sisters Jean and Lil. He is survived by June, his wife for 47 years, sons Bob (Deb) and Don and daughter Donna (Rob), grandchildren Michelle, Helena and Cole, and Felicia, Christina, Michael and Julia. He also leaves sister Bonnie Hendrickson (Harold), in-laws Alice Descoteau (Jim), and the Benns, Phil, Ron (Audrey), Bill (Dianne) and Dave (Louise) plus many nieces and nephews. DZIOBA, Lawrence (Larry) OMM, CD, Capt (N), RCN / C.A.F. - Passed away peacefully in the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, B.C. on May 20, 2007. Larry was born in Vita, Manitoba on 27 August 1932. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy from Ridgeville, Manitoba as a Cadet at Royal Roads in 1949. His Naval career spanned thirty eight years and included commands of Her Majesty's Canadian Ships ALGONQUIN, SAGUENAY, TERRA NOVA, and PROTECTEUR. His last command, from which he retired in 1987, was that of Base Commander, Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt (NADEN). He is survived by his loving wife Jo and his sons Bruce (Patty) and Richard (Alison), daughter Heather (John) and grandchildren Danielle, Anna, Kate, Peter, Brittanny and Christopher; his sister Irene and her family, and many friends. DICK, Herbert, P1 RPO/BN, RCN (06 Apr, 1922 - 28 Jun 2007) - Predeceased by his sisters Barbara, Edna, Minnie, Stell, and brothers Roy and Bill. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years Isabella "Isa" and son Rodney. Brothers Alf and Orm and several nieces and nephews, Laurel, Rhonda, Jane, Judy, Valerie, Randy, Brian, Grant, Collin, David. Herb was born in Keith Scotland. As a young man Herb immigrated with his family to Canada settling in Dauphin, Manitoba. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Navy March 24, 1941 and served overseas during WWII and retired from the Navy Jan. 21, 1966. After retirement he worked for an investment company and owned and operated a small grocery business as well as a motel prior. Herb loved animals. His passion, from his youth in Scotland, was horses, he owned and trained several race horses over the years both Thoroughbred and Standard bred Race Horses. RICHARDS, Ronald R. Capt. (N) (MARE), RCN / C.A.F. - passed away peacefully at home in Ottawa on March 11, 2018. Born August 26, 1937 in Victoria B.C., he was the son of the late Stanley T. and Victoria E. (Keeper) Richards and beloved and cherished husband of 57 years of Nancy (Frank). Devoted, and much loved father of Lorraine Dunn (Jim), Stephen (Larisa) Richards, and Angela (Glenn) MacIsaac. Proud and greatly cherished grandfather of Christine (Jeremy), Wendy, Alyse, Leah, Graham; great-grandfather of Hannah; and step-grandfather to Christian and Armin. Ron is fondly remembered by loving brothers-inlaw, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbours. Ron was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Gudgeon; brothersin- law, Clark Gudgeon, David Frank; and great-nephew, Ryan Goyette. Ron proudly served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy for 39 years, as a professional Engineer. His Naval career began at HMCS Venture, Victoria B.C. and included serving on several naval ships, as well as at National Defense Head Quarters, Ottawa and at CFB Halifax as Senior Staff Officer Dockyard Development and as Commanding Officer at 2CFTSA in Montreal. He and Nancy greatly enjoyed his last posting to Japan where Ron served as the Canadian Forces Attaché, Canadian Embassy Tokyo. Ron especially enjoyed reading, golfing, skiing and sailing with his family. In retirement he also took great pleasure in cruising, researching his genealogy and travelling the world with the love of his life, Nancy. His family joined them on several exciting adventures. He was a founding member of The Friendship Force, Ottawa. Ron had a sharp mind and always enjoyed a good joke. His keen sense of humour kept those around him smiling at his quick wit throughout his life. Visitation will be held in Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, on Friday, March 23rd, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in Beechwood’s Sacred Space. DYCK, Henry Waldemar, CD, C1RM, RCN / C.A.F. - age 88, died peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on March 16, 2018. Born in Vineland, Ont.,, he was the youngest child of Nicholas and Anna (Hamm) Dyck. He was a proud member of the Canadian Navy for 27 years and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class. He served on both the East and West coast of Canada, and while he was a member of Sea Training Staff he sailed on most of the Naval ships stationed on the East coast. He was attached to HMCS Portage, Swansee, Athabaskan, Ontario, Huron, Micmac, Saguenay, and Cap de la Madeleine. CPO Dyck’s expertise was in Radio Communications. He was stationed at Naval Radio Station Albro Lake and Naval Radio Station Mill Cove. He was also stationed at Padloping Island, North West Territories as a communicator and weather observer for one year. The sailors at this station provided beacon and weather observation to both civilian and military aircraft. He was Petty Officer in charge of the Naval Communications Facility at Frobisher Bay for six months. This facility provided communications to both naval and merchant ships re-supplying the DEW Line in the Canadian Arctic. He was a Chief at Mill Cove Radio Station, the Albro Lake Radio Station, and instructed at CFB Halifax Fleet School. He was Vice President of Chiefs and Petty Officers Mess at CFB Stadacona. He coached minor hockey, minor baseball, and was a Cub instructor. Following his retirement in 1976, he became Head Gardener for the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission. He was responsible for the design and original planting of the parks at the approaches to the two bridges between Halifax and Dartmouth. He studied landscaping at Nova Scotia Agricultural College which added to his lifelong love of gardening. His love of beauty and creation was always evident in his home gardens which he planted and tended with the care of an artist. After moving to Stewiacke East in 1979 he and his friend Lambert Vissers founded Visdyck Garden Supplies and were one of the first landscapers to introduce barkmulch to Nova Scotia. They later founded Visdyck Enterprises and produced Bert’s International Sauce, a gourmet cooking sauce. He was Colchester County Council’s civilian representative on the Planning Committee, the Board of Health and the Board of Appeal. He was awarded the Canadian Armed Forces Decoration and Bar and the Centennial Medal. Chief Dyck, known fondly to his friends as 'Handsome Hank' had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved talking with family, friends, and neighbors, especially when the subject was nature inspired. He loved the birds and deer, and even had a pet squirrel and raccoons who ventured onto his deck to steal the bird’s food. His social life always centered around his family. He is survived by his wife, Hattie; son, Richard, Dartmouth, and grandchildren Roxanna (Danny), Jonathan, and Nicholas (Laura); son, Robert (Pam), Dartmouth, and grandchildren Melanie and Cameron; daughter, Catherine Andrews (Richard), Ottawa, and grandson Scott; great-grandchildren, Laura Lee and Christopher Dyck and Arianna and Aden Boyd; stepchildren, Gloria (Terry) Kelly, Winnipeg, granddaughter Lisa (Dave) Pringle, Winnipeg, and great-grandchildren Jordan, Donovan and Naomi Lorna (Kendall) Butler, Saskatoon; Bruce (Doreen) Densmore, Windsor Junction, and grandsons Kyle and Ryan; Stephen (Laura) Densmore, Virden, Man., granddaughters Hayley and Ashton and great-grandson, Dawson; Vickie (Dale) McInnis, Aurora, Ont., and grandson Austin; Anne (Blaine) Blinkhorn, Dartmouth, grandson Chalmers, and great grandchildren Callum and Delia; Gregory (Nicky) Densmore, grandchildren Raegan, Kouper, Carson, Sevour and Darragh; Karen MacKenzie (David), Valley, granddaughters Kelsey and Lindsay; grandchildren, Calvin Butler (Jackie) and great-grandchildren Randi Lynn and Roman; sister, Lavina (John) Enns, London, Ont.; sister, Betty Martens, Black Rock, B.C.; brother, Nicholas, (Harriet), Toronto. He was predeceased by stepdaughter, Alice (Randall) Butler, Shelburne. His body is resting in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. There will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro, on Tuesday, March 20th at 2 p.m. followed by a reception. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, Valley Kemptown Fire Department or Valley United Church.

George was born in Berwick NS on October 14, 1938 son of the late William and Dorothy (Baltzer) Chase. ERRICO, William (Bill) - 02 Jun 1925 - 11 Mar 2018) - It's not too many 92 year olds who can still buck, split, and stack 12 cords of wood in a season, but Bill Errico was not your typical ninety-two-year-old. Living on Gambier Island with Yvonne, his beautiful wife of over seventy years, Bill knew that he needed that wood to heat the house through winter; to keep their home a warm and welcome refuge for his five children (and spouses), thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, and friends. Bill was born at home on Angus Drive in Vancouver, BC in 1925 to his proud parents Alfonso and Harriet Errico, brother Ernie and later joined by little brother Bob. Bill lived in Vancouver until he left to ride the rails as the headwaiter on the Canadian Pacific Railway dining car to pay for school. In 1943, his first year at UBC, he joined the Navy where he became the Skipper of the HMCS Workboy (which he would proudly tell you was the smallest commissioned ship in the Navy) until he was discharged in 1945. After the war, Bill headed to Toronto to train as a chiropractor, where he met and married the love of his life, Yvonne. Heading back West in 1949, he opened a chiropractic practice in North Vancouver, the second ever chiropractor on the North Shore (the first being his uncle) and practised there for 42 years. Along the way, he and Yvonne welcomed their children Carolynne, Billy, Janis, Noni, and Jamie - with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to follow. Despite his love of the North Shore, his true home could always be found on Gambier Island and the place he built by the sea for his family to gather. As the gentle family patriarch with a wicked sense of humour, he will be missed, and we will strive to carry on his legacy of love and support. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held Thursday March 22 at 2:00pm at the Clubhouse, Gleneagles Golf Course, 6190 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. (Vancouver Su / The Province 17 Mar 2018)

ROBERTSON, Ronald Hawken, CD, RCN (1920 - 2018) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband and father, Ronald Robertson, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Beloved husband and best friend for 68 years to Corelean (Scott). Loving, cherished father to Janis Robertson (Doug MacGregor) and Scott Robertson (Louise). Proud Grandfather of Russell, Owen and Ella. Survived by siblings Roy (Lillian), Catherine and Ian. Predeceased by brothers Alex and Gerald. Will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Helen and Elaine. Uncle to Gary (Tammy), Patricia (Gerry), Jeffrey (Rosanne) and Eric. Ronald will be missed by many special friends and neighbours in both Ottawa and Bahamas. Ronald was born on March 15, 1920 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to parents Albert and Hilda Robertson. Served in the Royal Canadian Navy and enjoyed at 35-year career at the Canadian National Research Council. Was a member of many service clubs including Atlantic CPOA, HMCS Carleton, 30th Field Artillery, long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion and 62-year member of the Masonic Fidelity Lodge. VONDETTE, Ursula Dorothy (nee ANDERSON), WRCNS (25 Aug 1925 - 11 Mar 2018) - Ursula passed away, after a brief illness, in her 93rd year, at Lions Gate Hospital. After graduating from Magee High School Ursula joined the WRCNS (Wrens), meeting her future husband, Henry (Hank) Vondette, at the RCN Signals School at HMCS St. Hyacinthe. They married in December 1948 at the chapel of the Royal Naval College in Greenwich (with reception in the college's Painted Hall). During Hank's 37 year naval career Ursula moved many times (England again, Victoria, Halifax, Cornwallis, Canada, USA). She resided in West Vancouver since 1979, when Hank became Vancouver's Harbour Master. She missed Hank very much after his passing in 2006. Ursula's many skills included voracious reading, oil painting, gardening, baking and fine needle work. She was a passionate lifelong volunteer with the Anglican Church, ACW, Girl Guides, LGH volunteers, and Missions to Seafarers. Ursula was the daughter of James and Gladys (Hall) Anderson and was predeceased by her brother Allan. She is survived by her sister Evelyn Anderson, sons Michael (Joanne), Christopher (Sheila), and Timothy Vondette, daughter Nancy Nelson (Roger), grandchildren Alexandra Russell (Mark), Mark (Chelsea Howard) Vondette, Michelle Salomons (Geoff), Elizabeth Vondette, Matthew and Jonathan Vondette (Kate) and Kathryn Bayley (Nick), and great-grandchildren Sacha and Naomi Russell, Kiran and Ziva Salomons and Owen Vondette, all of whom miss her dearly. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Pat, children Mike (Marilyn), Kathy (David), Ken (Angela), son-in-law Richard, grandchildren Ryan, Kirstin, Andrew, Lisa, Greg and Jen, sister Thelma and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Tina, his parents and five siblings. Following a 25 year naval career he moved to Kamloops with the B.C. government. In retirement he furthered his education at the UCC, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Thompson Rivers University in 2006. He was very involved in the community and will be missed by young and old alike. The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Royal Inland Hospital, 6 South, for their care and compassion. Our memories will have as their centre his unwavering view of the fundamental importance of family, reflected, as was his way, with quiet purpose. MORGAN, William Lloyd, Lt, RCNVR - passed away peacefully at his home in Normandy Park, WA on the morning of July 2 at age 92. He was born in Spokane, WA on August 10, 1918, the first child of William Lloyd Morgan, Sr. and Mary Ellen O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother John Daniel Morgan (LaHonda). He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Adelheid 'Heidi', sister Toni Plaxton (George) of London, Ontario, Canada; daughters Erika of Black Diamond, Gretchen (Guy Spencer) of Normandy Park, Heidi (Richard Kennedy) of Normandy Park, Christine (Lynn) Dickson of Normandy Park and son Peter (Pam) of Federal Way; and grandchildren Gwen and Gillian Spencer; Jamie and Jesse Morgan, Kendle Bjelland, Marianna Kennedy; Michael, Timothy and Alexander Sinon; & Keanan, Cole and Trey Morgan. A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines in Boulder and McGill University in Montreal, he served in WWII as a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, commanding an LCI landing craft in the Mediterranean Sea. In 1956 he founded Morpac Industries, Inc., an electrical equipment manufacturing company. During his long career, equipment of his design and manufacture strung high-voltage electrical lines across Turkey, the Mississippi River, the Fraser River, and recently the Tacoma Narrows. He served actively as Morpac's president until three weeks before his death. In addition to his family and his company, Lloyd had a great passion for mountain climbing in his youth and gardening in his more mature years. His children and grandchildren grew up in a beautiful and ever-evolving landscape of dahlias, roses and peonies. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1790 S. 222nd St., Des Moines, WA on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Following the Funeral Mass a lunch will be held in the Parish Hall. DERRY, Roy, P1BD, RCN / C.A.F. (served 23 May 1950 - 13 Aug 1980) (18 Mar 1931 - 25 Sep 2008) - It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandpa. Roy died at home, surrounded by his adoring family after a short, valiant battle with cancer. He will be forever missed by Joan, his loving wife of 54 years, daughters Lynn, Donna (David) Speed, Debby (Dave) Ross, and Brenda (Paul) Fudge. Roy loved his grandchildren deeply and shared wonderful times with Ben and Jessica Fudge; Terry, Jeff and Brett Speed; and Emily and Adrian Ross. Roy was born in Regina and moved to Esquimalt at the age of three with his parents Ben and Florence, and siblings Tom and Joyce. At a young age, Roy's family moved to Oak Bay where he attended Willows and Oak Bay High. Roy loved his sports (more than school), and was an accomplished athlete. He loved hockey and played on many elite teams. Another passion was fishing with his Dad and brother. In 1950, Roy joined the Naden Band and on a trip to Ottawa, he met his bride Joan. They were married and shortly after were drafted back to Victoria. Roy and Joan bought their family home in Oak Bay and had four daughters in five years. Roy loved music. He was an accomplished trumpet player, and spent a very happy career with the Naden Band, and others, and thoroughly enjoyed the lifelong friendships he made. He retired in 1980 and continued to pursue his zest for life. Roy cherished time with family. He loved golf, curling, lawn bowling, fishing, workouts at Oak Bay Rec Centre, school reunions, winters in Yuma and his Parisienne. Roy loved everyone he ever met and will be deeply missed and loved by all. He had a gift of making everyone he cared for feel special. Roy has been described as close to perfect as any person could be!" He is unforgettable. A memorial service will be held on Wed. Oct 1 at 1:00 PM at St. Phillips Anglican Church. This will be followed by a celebration of life at the Chief and P.O.'s mess from 4:00 7:00 PM. Please bring your favourite story or memory to share. DAWE, Norman George, C1BN, 4593-H, RCN (served 15 Jul 1941 - 16 Jul 1966) - Born Jan. 16 1924, Norm died peacefully on Oct. 1 2009 in Comox, B.C. He will be dearly missed by Anne, his wife of 56 years, and his sons Larry (Diane) and Robin (Lynne) as well, as his niece Barbara and many other family members and close friends. Norm served in the RCN for 25 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer. He then moved from Halifax N.S. to Victoria and worked for B.C. Ferries for 24 years. At his request there will be no service. DONALDSON, George, C2WS, 3900-E, RCN (served 16 Sep 1940 - 17 Mar 1965) (09 Jul 1922 - 10 Nov 2009) - Today we sadly share the news of George "Sandy" Donaldson's passing on November 10, 2009. George was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy and served his country during WW2. His last deployment was aboard the HMCS Sussexvale where he retired with the rank of CPO. After the WW2 he began working at the Royal Bank Of Canada where he worked for many years retiring at age 65. For most of his retirement years George loved going to see all of his friends at the banks and bringing joy to everyone with his lotto tickets. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife Jean whom he had been married to for 65 years. He will be greatly missed by all but especially his wife Jean, Son Derek (Kathy), Daughter Debbie, Granddaughter Joddie (Andrew) and Grandsons Aric and Travis. Also by his three great-grandchildren Kaylyn 11, Keith 8, and Matthew 5. No service will be held. A day to celebrate his life will follow. Des served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1947 until 1973 including Korea 1950-1953. He then went on to work in the Dockyard Shop 22 until 1993. Predeceased by his wife Audrey and Son Gary. Des is survived by his Children, Margie and Pat (Ronda). His Grandchildren, Tricia (Russ), Kristie, John (Jamie), Danielle (Brad) and Derek. His Greatgrandchildren, Damien, Landon, Elisa, Brooklyn and Kaycie. Also daughter-in-law Jacqueline. Also survived by Sisters, Agnes, Grace and Brothers, John and Ron as well as many other family members. Des loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed many family trips to Hawaii and camping in his much loved Rocky Mountains. He played many sports while in the Navy and also enjoyed his Chuckwagon races in the summer having spent many years with them growing up in Calgary. No service by request. DALLIN, Walter, C1GI4 / C1BN, 3522-E, RCN (served 06 Aug 1939 - 05 Aug 1960) - It is with great respect and sadness that the family of Walter Dallin announce his passing on Monday Nov. 15, 2010 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Walter was born in Frobisher, Saskatchewan on June 9, 1920, the youngest of nine children and the last one living. He left the prairies, at nineteen, to join the Navy and was sent to Victoria. After 20 years and two wars (WW11 and the Korean) he retired and went to work for the Bank of Montreal for the next 25 years. He married Alma Hannah in 1945 and they raised three children: Sandra, Jim (Judy) and Debra (Rik). After more than 40 years of a full and happy life together, Alma passed away. In 1990 Walter married Elsa Campbell from Hirsch Sask. and gained, over the next 20 years an extended family, fondly called the Calgary Kids". Walter came from a large family and remained in touch with all his siblings during his life. All family celebrations were very important to his family and we all remained close through the years. Walter also enjoyed a large network of friends going back to his early navy days and expanded his friends through golfing, curling, the Oak Bay United Church and the Monterey Senior Centre. He loved to participate with the sing a long group and enjoyed any excuse to get up and dance. Walter is survived by his wife, Elsa, his children and their spouses, grandsons; Jeffrey (Val), Jordan and Nik. The family would like to thank the staff at Glenwarren Hospital for their kind gentle care of Walter for the short time he was with them. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at Oak Bay United Church, at the corner of Granite and Mitchell St., on Nov. 28, 2010 at 2:30 pm. LATHAM, Gerald C.A.F. (Navy) (served 1972 - 1975)- age 64, March 18, 2018, loving and adoring spouse of Anne (Burgess); father of Daniel, Mark, and Michael; foster father, father figure, and mentor of Stephen Howatt (his son Alex), Samantha Reid (Jacob Savoie and daughter Ariel), TJ Hurshman, and several other lads who passed through his home. Predeceased by his mother, Helen Elizabeth Latham. Gerald was born in Halifax July 16, 1953. Finding himself on his own at 15, he continued school, supporting himself through several parttime retail positions. Realizing he needed to be a bigger part of something, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1972 where he developed an everlasting love for the sea and ships. When it was discovered he had a genetic eye disorder, Chorioderemia, he was given a Medical Discharge in 1977. For the next eight years he worked in retail and security. Wanting to start a family, he realized he needed a profession he could do well in and in 1985 entered the Maritime School of Social Work, graduating October 1988. He started in the Social Work field fall of 1988 with the County of Halifax and continued through the amalgamation with the Province of Nova Scotia where he was well-respected, admired and thought of. He left on long-term disability in 2010 when his sight was nearly gone. Gerald suffered a stroke in May 2014 and was diagnosed with a very progressive early onset of Alzheimers in October 2015. He continued his life’s journey with great dignity, humility, kindness, and respectfulness for all around and those who cared for him. DOUGANS, Robert Weir (Bob), P1SM, 17066-E, RCN (08 July 1935 - 21 May 2011) - We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our tender and kind husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who was admired for his generosity, love and loyalty to his friends and family. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Emilie, his 3 children, Chris (Debbie), Dawn (Doug) and Clay (Stacey). Grandchildren Sareena, Narissa, Casey, Ryan, Jesse, Chelsea and Daniel; great grandson Landon, his brother John (Doris), sons and family from Richmond and all of whom he loved dearly. Above all, Dad enjoyed his family and took pride in their many achievements. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Elizabeth and daughter Mary. A large part of his working life was spent in the Navy, COE Systems and owner/co-owner with son Chris of Mr. Mikes and Old British Fish and Chips in Esquimalt. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Prince Edward Branch #91 and founder of the Resource Centre for Independent Living for people with disabilities. After retirement he enjoyed the finer things in life, RV'ing, cooking, poker and played a wicked game of Jeopardy. DACRE, Cecil (CEC) Thomas, C1RS / Lt (N), RCN / C.A.F. (03 Jan 1940 - 03 Dec. 2011) - Sadly, our wonderful Cec died at home from heart attack. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend Linda; daughters Kim (Steve) Finnagan and Laury (Bill) Clark; son Michael (Sandra) Dacre; grandchildren Stephanie, Brianna, Justin, Tristan, Liam, and Taylon; great-grandchildren Braden and Ethan; brother Garth (Lee) McIsaac; ex-wife Norma (Bill) Lough; and many cousins and friends in Canada and overseas. He proudly served his country for 55 years, including 37 years in the Canadian Forces and the remainder, til the day he died, at the Communications Security Establishment Canada. Family and friends are invited to pay their respect at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Interment at the National Military Cemetery. DALLIMORE, Raymond Howard, VA, 40718-E / Cdr (Supply), O-16654, RCN (served 15 Jun 1940 - 15 Jun 1967) (09 Nov 1919 - 17 Jan 2012) - passed away peacefully on January 17, 2012, at the age of 92, surrounded by family at his home in the Broadmead Lodge in Victoria, BC. Raymond was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Downton) Dallimore and loving father to three children; Judith (Bruce), Barbara (Marc) and Scott (Audrey). His adoring grandchildren David, Anne, Josée, Brent Raymond and Karen, will always remember him as Grandpa and 'mon petite frite'. He leaves behind sisters Helen (Doug) and Dorthy of Victoria, BC and will always be fondly remembered by faithful family friends the Byrnes, the Wades, the Racines, the Heaths, the Titfords, the Nicholsons and the Dixons. Raymond joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940 and served faithfully until his retirement in 1967. He began a second career as a Senior Manager for the Federal Government shortly after, retiring for the last time in 1983. During his Navy career, Raymond served across Canada with postings in Victoria, Dartmouth, Ottawa and St. John's. While posted in St. John's, he met his true love, Margaret. They married in June of 1945 and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Margaret passed in 2007. As a couple, Margaret and Raymond were a shining example of the devotion and love two people can share. Always a character, Ray can only be described as a kind and gentle soul, always willing to volunteer his time, love and attention to his family, friends, church and community. He was a long time member and former President and of the Ottawa Kiwanis Club where he participated in many fundraising activities for organizations such as CHEO, and was a founding member of St. Aidan's Anglican Church in Ottawa. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Broadmead Lodge for their compassionate care of both Margaret and Raymond. A special thanks to son Scott, daughter-in-law Audrey and grandchildren Brent Raymond and Karen, as well as to the Nicholson family of Sidney, for their constant support and devotion. Although we are heartbroken at our loss, we realize how truly blessed we were to have had both he and Margaret as part of our lives and are thankful for the lifetime of memories we are left with. DICKSON, Richard, C1WR4, 50306-E, RCN (served 11 Jan 1946 - 29 Nov 1971) (27 Apr 1928 - 04 Feb 2012) - Richard lived a full life. Born in Vancouver, at 17 he joined the Navy to see the world. In his travels he met Anna, the love of his life who became his caring wife and shared his adventures for over 60 years. Richard is also survived by his sister, Marlene Steele, and by his children Valerie (Bryan), Bryan (Terri) and Karen (Mark) and nine grandchildren Peter, Mia, Anna, Max, Georgia, Allie, Kate, Natalie and Emily who miss him dearly. He is an enduring role model for us. His lasting gifts to all who knew him are his sense of humour and generosity of spirit that we carry in our hearts and share in his memory. DAVIES, John, C2ER, RCN (1925-2012)- passed away peacefully on July 7, 2012 at the age of 87 after a valiant battle with cancer. John was born and brought up in Edmonton, Alberta. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy at HMCS Nonsuch in 1941. He was shipped out to the North Atlantic during WWII on Convey Patrol from Halifax to England and Scotland. He returned to Victoria after the War. He worked through the ranks to Chief and spent 20 years in service to the RCN. He served during the Korean War on the Tribal Class Destroyers. The Korean War took him away to sea for over two years. John retired from the Navy in 1962 then continued work as an Engineering Project Consultant and Manager for new ships under construction here and in Quebec. He then worked many years with Dockyard in Victoria and had many friends there. John is survived by his wife of 53 years Jean, his son George, his daughter Mary, his son in law Neil Myers, and his grandchildren Alec and Chloe. John loved travel and soccer. He was a Life member of the Chiefs and Petty Officers Assn Esquimalt. He also enjoyed his Friday outings for lunch with the guys. An open house to celebrate John's life will be held on July 18th from 1 to 5 at his home at 158 Cadillac Avenue, Victoria. Published in Victoria Times-Colonist from July 15 to July 17, 2012

INGLESON, Terry Ralph, P2EM2, 28736-E, RCN (served 07 Jun 1954 - 06 Jul 1964) (1935-2001) - of Winnipeg, died 02 Aug 2001 at the age of 65 years. Terry served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1954 until 1964. He joined at 18, leaving Vancouver for HMCS Cornwallis. He met his future wife in Victoria. She was a prairie girl, and after he left the Navy, they moved to Winnipeg, where he served in the Winnipeg Fire Department. Terry enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing. Terry was a BC'er at heart and returned many times to visit friends, family and old navy buddies. After he passed, his final wish, to be returned to the Pacific, was fulfilled.

HARRINGTON, Walter, PO, Radar, RCNVR - (1922-1979) Walter Harrington was born on Jun 21, 1922, in Black Point, N.S. In 1941 Walter went to Halifax to work at the ship yards - volunteering in 1942 to join the RCNVR. He enlisted at Halifax and took basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. Upon completing basic training he joined HMCS Sackville, a Corvette involved in escort duty on the North Atlantic. He served on the Sackville on runs between St. Johns, Nfld and Londonderry, Ireland until 1943 when he was drafted to HMCS Provider. Two days before Provider deployed for six months in Bermuda he married Robina Bayne in Halifax. While in Bermuda the Provider served as a floating supply base for the fleet of coastal patrol vessels patrolling the Atlantic coast. In 1944 he was sent to Quebec for advanced radar training to prepare him for his position on the new light Cruiser HMCS Ontario. He was promoted to Petty Officer, and at the time he was the youngest Petty Officer in The RCN. In 1944 he joined the Ontario in England and was in the Mediterranean when the war in Europe ended. The Ontario was docked at Malta when the war ended and crew members were given the option of sailing on to take part in the fighting of the Japanese in the Pacific or going home, Walter chose to return home to his young wife. After leaving the Ontario, he was billeted in tents on Malta until he found a ship to return him to England. He spent time at barracks in Scotland and England before getting a spot on a Destroyer returning to Canada. Three months after returning to Halifax, Water was discharged from the Navy. After his release, Walter worked for the Mersey Paper Company as a Clerk at Camp One at Lake Rossignol and also on a Survey Party at New France in Digby County. In 1946 he attended the Maritime Forest Ranger School, graduating in 1947. In 1947 he started working for the Maritime Lumber Bureau, travelling to mills all over Nova Scotia. In 1949 Walter started working for the Federal Government with the Insect and Disease Survey department which was then working out of Halifax. In 1951 the Insect and Disease Survey department moved to Debert, NS. Walter purchased a farm near Debert where they lived till his passing. He raised cattle, blueberries, vegetables, bees and worked in the woods while living there. Walter is buried in Terrace Hill Anglican Cemetery in Truro.

Ernest was a Veteran of World War II, RCN, served in the battle of the Atlantic, and a founding member of the Naval Veterans Association (Vancouver). He was predeceased by his wife, Connie. He passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hosptial on March 21, 2018.

ROULEAU, Neil Thomas Gordon, RCN / C.A.F. - (21 Apr 1947 - 21 Mar 2018)  of Cole Harbour, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2018 at the age of 70. He was a son of Gaston Rouleau (deceased) and Betty West, Elliott Lake, Ont. A brother to Danny Rouleau (deceased) and Bonnie Hubbard (deceased). Neil joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1965 and served for 36 years. He married Linda (Lilly) March 4, 1968 and they recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. He is survived by his son, Iann Rouleau (Dedra Brown) and predeceased by his daughter, Neila. Neil was an active member of the Anglican Church of Saint Andrew in Cole Harbour, as a dedicated choir member for over 30 years; his voice is greatly missed. He is also missed by brothers and sister-in-law, George (Pam), John (Anita), Shirley (Wayne), and Lester; grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Alyssa and Matthew Rouleau of Lower Sackville as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26th from 1-4 p.m. and the service celebrating his life will take place Tuesday, March 27th at 11 a.m. Both events will take place in the Anglican Church of Saint Andrew, 2 Circassion Dr., Cole Harbour with The Rev. Katherine Bourbonniere officiating. Burial at sea will take place at a later date.

KENNEDY, Joseph - Peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 22, 2018 at 97 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Millie (2012). DEANE, Donald Eric, P1WU, 9932-E / LT (N), RCN / C.A.F. (served 02 Mar 1948 - 19 Aug 1970) (02 Aug 1930 - 21 Aug 2014) - It is with much sadness that we announce that our father and friend has peacefully passed away. Dad lived a wonderful life full of family, friends, love and laughter. He was a kind gentleman with a great sense of humor. Above all he was a proud father who supported his sons throughout their many interests and activities. Dad served 30 years in the Royal Canadian Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed golf, curling and horseshoes. He leaves behind two sons, Darrell (Ann-Marie) and Kim (Kathy), sisters Heather (Chris) and June (Bruce), step children Gary (Fran), Joyce (John), Brian (Tracie), numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family that extends across Canada. GOODWIN, Norman Lusby, MD, CM, LLB, FCLM, CD, Surg-LCdr, RCNR (21 Mar 1923 - 03 May 2013)  Norman was born in Point Grey, BC to Ray Goodwin, DMD, a dentist, from a New Brunswick Loyalist family, and to Emma Brune, daughter of German immigrants. He was the youngest of four sons. Norman earned his medical degree at McGill University in 1947, was an intern in New Jersey, USA, and earned his law degree at University of British Columbia in 1951. He articled with his cousin, Honourable Howard Charles Green. He was Called to the Bar in 1952. Norman practised medicine in Sooke before moving with his family to Windsor, Ontario in 1957. He commuted to Detroit to be a hospital administrator. The Goodwins moved to Toronto in 1961. Norman worked in hospital administration and in the Ontario Public Service. He obtained the Queen's Commission in the Naval Reserve at HMCS York, retiring as Surgeon-Lieutenant  Commander. A member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute, he was proficient in Bridge. Dr. and Mrs. Goodwin moved to Victoria in 1978. Norman practised medicine until retiring in 1988. He was a long time member of the Union Club, where he loved to play Bridge. Norman was a loving, generous and wise husband, father and grandfather. He always ensured that his descendants were well shod. "Life is a story. Tell it well." (Victoria Times Colonist 22 Mar 2018)

ROURKE, Robert (Bob), CD, CPO.HT, RCNR - peacefully slipped away in his 91st year in his home with his cherished wife of 60 years by his side on Monday, March 19, 2018. Beloved husband of Elsa (nee Stovold) and loving father of Donna (Rick Harding), Robert (Chrishi Doss) and John (Glenn Pearce). Devoted grandfather to Eric Harding (Tiffany Reed), Emma Rourke Harding-Howell (Chris), Kaitlyn, Aiden and Kieran. Dear brother to Vivian Johnston (late Kenneth), Marion Kack (late Hilary) and Alan (Joan). Fondly remembered by his extended family on the Stovold side along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was a well-respected businessman; owner/operator of Rosemere Hardware, the local hardware store, for 30 years in Rosemere, Quebec. CPO Rourke served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves (HMCS Donnacona, Montreal) as a Shipwright for over 25 years and was awarded the CD medal with two bars for his long service to our country. Family and friends are invited to visit at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Dr. Ottawa, ON on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service with Eucharist will be held on March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 1138 Bridge St., Manotick, Ontario. SALAGA, Steven A., P2NS, RCN (11 Nov 1932 - 23 Jan 2018) - Steve was born in Prince Albert, Sask. and passed away peacefully at home in Victoria, BC at the age of 85. As a former Submariner he fought a good fight and was taken home to his Heavenly Father. Steve will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth of 63 years, his 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and brother Richard. Steve was one of the most loving, kind and caring husband, father and friend who will live in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Steve's life on Saturday, February 3 at 2pm at Church of the Nazarene, 4277 Quadra Street.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine; sons, Steve (Judy) and Frank; daughter, Sandy (Steve) Walker; grandchildren, Stacey, Jacklin, Nick, Scott and Amanda; three sisters and his brothers and their spouses, nieces and nephews and many friends. HARRISON, Glen William, CPO.TEL (11 Oct 1920 - 26 Dec 2017) - passed away at the age of 97 leaving behind Irene, his beloved wife of 73 years, 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Glen and his younger brother Arthur, were born to a family with many historical roots dating to 1871 in North Saanich. At the outbreak of World War II he volunteered for the Naval Reserves and served on the Corvette "Chilliwack" as a radio operator achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He later transferred to a shore based listening and communications station in St. Johns, NFLD. On leave in Montreal he met and courted Irene Foss and they married there in 1945. With the war over he brought his bride back to B.C. In Gordon Head, amongst the daffodils and panoramic views, they chose a large lot to build their home. Living in a small garage at first they started their family, having Robert and Lynda and then with the house, Deborah and David. Glen started a one man sound equipment business specializing in public address and telephone systems. He found time during these busy years to build a small cabin cruiser to explore the local waters with some trips as far as Desolation Sound. In 1968 an acreage was purchased in Qualicum Beach as a site for a future retirement home but was initially a family-built post and beam cabin. In 1977 he sold his business and spent over 20 winters trailering and rock hounding, with Irene, in the southern U.S. and Mexico. He was a very clever and capable man who could build, repair, adapt or improve just about anything from intricate circuit boards to large building projects. In the last few years he concentrated on his wood turning with many of his signed bowls going to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by the large family left behind. Sincere thanks to staff at NRGH for helping to make him comfortable on his last Christmas.

PARKER, Reginald Alton, LS.NQ, RCNVR - Born July 18, 1924 in Montreal, Quebec passed away February 27, 2018 in Sidney, BC. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence Murray, his sons Iain (Patricia) in Edmonton, Alberta, and Bruce in Vancouver, BC. Reg was predeceased by his sister Joan. Reg was a veteran of WWII, serving in Corvettes in the North Atlantic as a member of the RCNVR. He was a member of the Canadian Naval Trust Association, the Chief's & Petty Officers Association, the Flower Class Corvette Association, and the Quebec Family History Society. A memorial service will be held at Highway Christian Fellowship in Sidney, March 24th, at 2:00PM. Flowers are gratefully declined. CARTER, Victor William (06 Jun 1946 - 12 Dec 2003) - passed away on 12 December 2003 in Toronto, Ontario. He was born on 06 June 1946 in Liverpool, England. At a young age of about 12 he immigrated to Canada with his family and settled in the Toronto, Ontario area. Around 1964 Victor joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a Sonar Operator. In 1966 Victor volunteered for the submarine service and went to the UK for training. He served in HMS Grampus with the RN. He then served in HMCS Ojibwa and was Commissioning Crew in HMCS Okanagan on 22 June 1968. Victor also served at CFB Shelburne in Nova Scotia. Vic was a dedicated submariner and sailor. He enjoyed his time serving his country in submarines. After his death, Victor was cremated and his ashes rest with his family in Gosport, England. He is survived by his children, Dean, Brett and Colleen Carter.

EDGINGTON, George William, P2AA, RCN (released 21 Nov 1955) - on February 19, 1990, in Victoria, at the age of 62 years. Born in Victoria on May 7, 1927, he was predeceased by his father, William James Edgington, in 1957. Survived by his mother, Sarah Edgington, his wife, Margaret Jean, children, Ethel (Bob) Rutherford and family, Karey Ann and Robie, Paul (Marika), Brian (Sharon) and son, Tyler, William (Stephanie), Gail (Larry) Wharf and daughters, Leah and Gillisha, Mark (Sema) and daughter, Sibel, John (Michelle) and daughters, Sara, Nicole and Amy, Rachel (Dan) Cox and daughters, Christina and Brittany; three brothers, Bill (Vange), Joe (Anne), Dough (Edna) and his sister, Jenn6 (Paul) Mercer. Mr. Edgington retired from the DND Firefighting Service in 1985, and from Langford Volunteer Fire Department in 1986. He was a member of the RCL Langford Branch No. 91, the Chief's and PO's Association and director of the RCN Angler's Association. Funeral service will be conducted from McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, on Thursday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend K. Strom officiating. Interment to follow n Hatley Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. EARNSHAW, Ivan William, C2ER, RCN (released Oct 1969) - Born 28 Mar 1926, died suddenly at home on May 2, 1991 at the age of 65. A resident of Esquimalt for 63 years, he leaves his loving wife of 40 years, Betty; daughter, Kristina and son-in-law Anthony Van der Wereld; son, Kenneth; four grandsons and one granddaughter; a sister, Anna (Pete) Thornburn of Surrey; brother, Don (Bev) of Victoria; also many nieces and nephews. Ivan served with the PPCLI during the Second World War and also with the RCN from 1950 to 1967. He worked for the Dockyard until his retirement in 1986 and was also a lifetime member of the Chiefs and POs Mess. Memorial services will be held from the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive on Tuesday, May 7, at 2: 00 P.M. with Padre H. Silvester officiating. Cremation. TAPSCOTT, Gene Alan (Nip, Papa Geno), PO1, RCN / C.A.F. - age 81, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Weston, Ont., he was a son of the late William and Jean (McLean) Tapscott. Gene served as a weapons tech with the Royal Canadian Navy for 33 years. Following retirement, he served in the Reserves with the Submarine Squadron for another three years. He enjoyed golfing, camping and volunteering with First Baptist Church, Dartmouth and at Oakwood Terrace. He loved dancing, travelling and sharing stories with family and friends. Gene is survived by his daughters, Sherlyn (Darrell) Tibbel, Michelle Tapscott, Melissa (Shane) Gaunt, Cindy Mac-Donald (Ainsley), Judy Young (Rob); son, Michael (Yvonne) Young; grandchildren, Vanessa (Tonya), Adam, Amanda (Cory) Robert, Shasta Lee; five great-grandchildren and his first wife, Shirley Adams. He is also survived by his brother, Don (Gail) Tapscott; sister-in-law, Ann Tapscott and many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Wheeler-Tapscott in 2013; siblings, Bob, Glen (Jean) and Marion (Webb) Long. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 29th in the funeral home chapel, Rev. PROCHER, Edward John (Ted), CD, RCN / C.A.F. - (1943-2017) It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved, Husband, Father & Grandfather, Ted Procher on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at 4:15PM. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra, children Jason, Wendy & Kerry Drew, Grandchildren, Jack, Ava & William, his Mother-in-law, Sylvia Ring, also his brother, aunts, uncles, several cousins & their families. Ted was pre-deceased by his Parents, Bill Procher (1982) & Theda (Crowhurst) Procher (2015). Ted was born in Toronto on October 15th, 1943 and joined the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) in January of 1962. After basic training, in Cornwallis, NS he was stationed at Shearwater, NS with Squadrons VS880 & HS50 as a Naval Airman. Ted served on ships, HMCS Micmac, Fraser & Bonaventure with his last posting in Summerside, PEI with Squadron VP415. After his Naval Service Ted returned to Ontario and became a member of Peel Regional Police Service. His last career, he said, would be a Consultant to Industry with respect to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods while residing in Brampton and Barrie, ON. Ted & Sandy retired to Wilberforce, ON in 2008 wherein Ted enjoyed fishing, all forms of boating and was an active member in the Wilberforce Royal Canadian Legion Branch 624. Cremation has been entrusted to Marshall W. Driver Cremation & Burial Service, Barrie, ON. Private Family Service with a Celebration of Life in March of 2017.
