GLENLIVET W43 / YTB 504
Steel Hulled, Short House Type - 1943
Glen Class Tugboat
This hardworking tugboat was built in 1944 by Russel Brothers Limited as HMCS GLENLIVET for the Canadian Navy. She was later assigned to the auxiliary fleet and renamed GLENLIVET II. In 1956 she was loaned to the Department of Public Works. GLENLIVET II was sold to Francisco Petroleum Enterprises in 1977, and became the pleasure craft Canadian Franko. In 1982 she was sold to McKeil Marine, who restored the name GLENLIVET II and began using her in commercial service once more. Construction Dufresne of Montreal acquired the tug in 1989, and the following year she moved again to Voyageurs Marine Construction. In 2000, the GLENLIVET II was purchased by Nadro Marine of Port Dover, Ontario and renamed Vigilant I. The tug returned to McKeil in 2018, when Nadro’s fleet was absorbed by its parent company.
